Well hello there!

While i was painting earlier, i had a few random thoughts, one of which i thought would be something that probably no one even thinks about, nor cares about. And when thinking about it mostly thinks "why the hell do people do that?!" well if your an absent-minded flark like me then you probably only think once every month.

NO this isn't about actually painting your arms! I'd rather not learn about the strange things people get up to, apparently according to my friends, painting models is a weir thing to do anyway.

Basically, in a nutshell the question is:

What colour do you like to paint your "dudes" guns? excluding the likes of power weapons and such as they can be painted in whakey strange colours and you can get away with it. like for example, do you prefer to paint the cases of bolters black, silver, or whatever.

I know, i know, I'm thick as mince.

Just a random thought that i thought would be interesting to see what people think.

I paint most of them black with highlight of grey

I like to go oldschool and drybrush them silver.

I paint them botgun metal, then black wash. On regular Dark Angels, I hate the stock color of red, it makes them look like the Christmas Angels... For Terminators, I do paint them red.

simple but effective

All my marines have blinged out Golden Bolters. They have close ties to their system's Forge World and consequently bling out their stuff more often.

I've just started a SM army & I'm painting their arms white, probably with some drybrushed grey or black on the edges of the edged weapons and the tip of gun barrels. They're Orange Marines, so I thought going with a non-traditional, sleek & clean look would be cool for the weapons.

For grunts I paint the upper case black and the lower section with silver. For superior ranks I can go wild.

I'll paint the gun boltgun metal, the shell casings are brass and the plate on top of the gun is the same color as the marine carying it.

For my Black Templars, I prefer variety. The bolters can be:

Black with silver dry brush
Silver with a black wash
Red
White
Gold (limited to HQ and HQ Squads)

For my Deathwatch marines, only red is allowed.

Olive drab butts, foregrips, and muzzle tips. The upper and lower recievers black, highlighted with gray. I couldn't make up my mind so I stared at my rifle during a course and decided to go with the C7A2 paint scheme.

me personal, iv been converted recently with painting special units a dark angel green ish colour, and nearly everone else gets black, and the silver bits silver.... Red on blood angels guns looks daft in my opinion.
