Im quite new to all this, and i have not worked my way through all the rules, ive been working on the assumption that any wargear after the base points, is for weapons and wargear, but ive seen on a few forums, what seems to be that weapons just add to the squads overall points, (such as a sergeant with terminator honours, who uses a power fist, that +15 would go towards overall squad points), but it would not go towards the 100 points allocated to wargear.

If someone could clear this up for me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

On moon miranda.

I'm assuming you are referring to the Black Templars codex?

This was the last 40k codex to have an Armory and a per-model wargear points limit.

Essentially the limit means the no single model may have more than 100pts of wargear from the armory, but this cost is still applied to the model, and thus to the unit it belongs to. So if you buy Artificer Armor, that means you can only spend another 80pts on wargear, but it also means that character costs 20pts more for buying it, thus the unit as a whole.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Thanks, cleared that up for me, i thought it might of had something to do with an older version of rulebook/ codex.

What codex are you operating out of? Cause all of the 5th edition codice don't operate on the armory system any more.

If you are using a 4th (or older) book, and I understand your question correctly, I think you are a little confused. You only add points to a squad when you purchase additional wargear. However, you are only allowed to purchase a MAXIMUM of 100 points of wargear. Say you have 170 point tactical squad. Then you buy a meltagun (5 pts), a lascannon (10 pts), and a powerfist (25 pts). So you add 170+5+10+25= 210. You have only added 40 points to your squad, and are still under your 100 point maximum, so everything is hunky dory. Does that answer your question? Of course these numbers are merely for example.
