If a Commander Unit leads a command squad, does the Wargear point limit count for both Commander and Command Squad, or is the Wargear points independent for them both?

No Pity! No Remorse! No Fear!

Uh... I thought that was abandoned ages ago. No points limit, but make sure you're using the 5th Edition Space Marine Codex.

And uppercase for trademark GW stuff.

Given the fact your name is Black Templar, I'm assuming you're using the Black Templar codex, where this kind of rule still exists!

The limit only counts to the commander himself. His squad can have whatever.

Oh, snap! Excelent observation, Brother SRM. I didn't remember that they had in fact such restrictions. Even then, strange that the FAQ didn't correct that :p

Didn't correct what?

The codex is designed to work with the armoury as is. They're not going to change how that works until the codex is re-written.

Argh, I'm rocking the Failboat... twice.

I forgot about the Armoury, too. I thought it went away from 2nd to 3rd.

Oh well, nothing to see here.

Black Templars didn't have a codex until 3rd edition...

Now you're just being evil :]

Black Templars used the same rules as other Space Marines in 2nd Edition, save for Wolves/Angels, and for most of 3rd edition too (the Emperor's Champion in 3rd ed. Marine book was admitted to be mostly tied to them, and several pictures of them abound).

So, technically , yeah, they did have a codex.

But my mistake was originally thinking that all codexes lost the armoury from 2nd to 3rd. I didn't recall the armoury was still present through most, if not all of 3rd edition.
