1: Announce that your Raider is using it's Aethersails
2: Roll a 12 on your 2D6
3: Move flat-out 36"
4: Purposely land in terrain (near the far edge if you can)
5: Roll a 1 on your dangerous terrain test (thus wrecking your skimmer transport)
6: Disembark 2" from the hull on the side closest to the enemy
7: Pass your pinning test
8: Since you technically disembarked from an open topped vehicle, despite how it landed, you may now assault. Normally, a unit cannot disembark (and thus cannot assault) after it's transport moves flat-out, but the unit bypasses this rule when it is wrecked. Strange, you think something this outlandish would have come from the orks lol

Q: If a transport vehicle is destroyed in the same turn as it
moved flat out what happens to any embarked models? (p70)
A: They are removed as casualties.

The rules don't bypass the disembarking after a flat-out move for two reasons:

The rules say you can not disembark after moving flat-out, period. Not being able to do something means just that.

Second, the FAQ addresses this specifically.

However, if it was legal, it'd be a possible 50.999", because you can run (if you have a unit with fleet) and you only need the back edge of the models within 2" when you disembark. Also, if you were already on the board and turned sideways, you can turn it straight before the move, which would get you another 3" or so.

Of course, orks CAN do something similar, if even more random and unlikely. (And still breaking the rules)

1: Declare a 18,1" ram with a red paintjob/ram truck.
2: Wreck both you and the enemy vehicle.
3: Roll ramshackle, get "run wild".
4: Roll 24 on the random movement roll, and the same direction as the ram.
5: Get out, pass any ld-test.
6: Declare a WAAAGGH and roll a 6" for fleet.
7: Charge 6".

So lesse: 18+24+12= 54" charge.

If I use -><- I'm not mocking you, it's a reflex from using the " silly" icon on every other forum.
However, if I use this -><- I might just mock you.

and you still die for going flat out.

Biggest distance is orks with 12 + 1 red paint + 2 disembark + D6 + 6 assault for 22-27" ... maybe add 2-3" if you were side on at the start.

Sorry, I seem to have been editing while you posted...

I'm well aware that it breakes the rules, I'm just pointing out for the OP that the "complaint" that orks should've done the "silly long charge" is sort of redundant, as per the same faulty rules...orks can do it better.

Correction-
6: Trolls on the forums get all uppity when a post at 2am overlooks part of the FAQ

See above Step 6 and add: Don't forget to say "Nah nah nah nah boo boo", it makes you look even tougher to your internet followers

I've got to say, DakkaDakka is one of the worst forums I've ever been on. No imagination, no leeway. Out of all the replies, only one seemed even remotely civil. Sorry if I don't have the FAQ memorized like the tourney trolls who play not to enjoy the game, but to win prize money and feel good about the countless hours they spend sitting at a desk painting their Khorne Berzeker Daemon Prince with Lash of Submission list of uber pwnage. Maybe this place has simply been allowed to fester for too long. You grubby little trolls can have this place all to yourselves. I'll go post with the few civilized people on the internet.

OK, so you suggested something really bizarre, someone pointed out that it wouldn't work. You did post it in a subforum for answering rules questions after all. I don't see that any replies were particularly snarky.

I shall forgive you for that mistake

And yeah. Your plan fails and is stupid

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Wow, this wasn't even a moderately heated discussion yet... was the OP asking a question or just baiting?

Posting this sort of stuff in YMDC (rules) without an actual question is usually a troll anyway.

FoxHound, Grow some thicker skin.

First off, you are by no means the first person to suggest this atrocity. It has been around for well over a year, and it has always been illegal by the rules. Destroyed means destroyed no matter how you weasel around it. The FAQ simply ended the crying.

The people on this forum have simply gotten tired answering this "tactic" at least once a week.
