Like many ork players, I have a lot of AoRb slugga boyz. The only problem is that I have 80+ figs that I want to use as shoota boyz. I've already used most of my spare bits and am running out of converting ideas. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thnx

Unfortunately I can't think of way now that would keep them legal.

my suggestion is just buy another package of ork boyz. its an expensive solution, but it saves the trouble of looking for converting options and going through alot of trial and error.

besides, you can't ever go wrong with more ork boyz, they're like IG they're stronger in greater numbers.

- I may have misunderstood the question though-

Do you already have the arms for shoota boyz? since the AOBR close combat arms are molded onto the model it'd take a bit of hacking to get it off.

Cant make them legal? The simplest way would be to simply glue a shoota on their back, and presto they would be legal. To could do the OLD SCHOOL mini method and cut the weapons off, and then simply glue a shoota into one arm. Sure they will look a bit....weird but would totally be legal.

Im in the same boat TBH. I started off playing a goff/speed freak style army. So almost every boy I have is a slugga boy. Now Im a huge fan of shoota boyz and the ones that are not shoota boyz, I have to say "well those slugga boyz are actually shoota boyz for the time being"

I think I might just glue shootas on their backs or something along those lines. That or go the harder route, and carve off the arms on the AOBR boyz and glue the shoota boyz arms on. Itll take some doing to make them look seemless but you can do it

I'm a bit fuzzy on what exactly it is your asking,is it that you wish to know how to remove the arms of the AoBR Slugga boyz and replace them with shoota arms?...or are you asking for a way to convert sluggas to shootas ?

? How would gluing a shoota on their back make them shootaboyz?

Also without the sluggas you're missing out on an extra attack in assault phase. ;P

Cut off the pegs for their attachable arms, and good luck using a heavy knife or some clippers to take off their other arms. It may not look so great, so make sure you have some green stuff to fill in the inevitable gaps.

I'm running a kan wall list so shootas are a much more viable option than sluggas. With that said, I would think it to be wasteful to go and buy countless box sets of overpriced boyz. It would defeat the purpose of buying the AoRb set in the first place. Initially I used "looted" guns from all of my leftover SM bits but my box is running dry. Since the only difference between a slugga and a shoota is the front half, I was considering cutting all of my guns in half and replacing the front with small plastic tubing scaled to the correct size. I would then somehow find even smaller tubing to fit inside if that and use greenstuff and a drill bit to finish it off. But if I had to replicate that process 80+ times I might impale myself with my box cutter. So any input could possible save my life.

Removing the arms of an AoBR Slugga boy isn't very difficult, every Burna boy I own started life as an AoBr slugga boy as did several shoota boyz I have.
However,if the OP is asking about converting the actual slugga into a shoota, then I'd suggest various lengths of plastic rod,one hollow, one beveled and one smaller round one.
Cut a piece from the hollow rod to the appropriate length to make a gun barrel, then cut a slightly shorter piece from the beveled rod to make the grip.
Cut the front of the slugga barrels off and insure front is smooth, then glue the two rods on to the front of the slugga.
Cut the smaller rod into small bits and affix to the front of the beveled rod,add gun sights and other bits....instant shoota.

EDIT: Basically you'll want three rods that look similar to this when you look at them straight on,you should be able to find the right sizes in any hobby/craft store.

Any chance of a photo or two to demonstrate this?? I'm not sure I quite get what you mean!
I also have plenty of AoBR boyz, and as handy as they are against other melee armies, shootas in wagons really rule the roost.

Shootas don't *have* to be round...
I sort of have this problem too, so what im thinking of doing is thus:

Cut off the circular barrel on the end of your boy'z slugga
grab a spare slugga, cut off the end along the magazine (this should be fairly easy to do as most if not all sluggas are made up of square-y bitz)
snip off the magasine (or keep on for extra orkishness lol)
pin/glue/blutack the new barrel onto the old barrel
extra long barrelled slugga ~= shoota!

dont know how great that'd work out though...

I've actually made my own big shootas in exactly this way, but using shoota barrels, cut one just behind the barrel to act as the arm/stock piece, then the other just between the ork's hand and the body of the shoota. Clean up both bits and stick em together and voila...

Instant Big Shoota!! I even positioned the boy somewhat like the one in the Codex, being blasted back by the recoil... Looks awesome, and shows what you can manage with a little time and effort!

I'd just convert the sluggas themselves to shootas. A dash of plasticard or gubbins from the bits box to extend the body a bit, then plastic tube to extend the barrel (plenty of room for variety, here. Drill vents on some, add crude sights to others, use a few different thicknesses of tube, if you've got them).

I wouldn't even bother swapping out the choppa arms on most of them. Since they don't have 2 CCWs (slugga -> shoota means no more pistol), there's no rules reason why they couldn't hold both a shoota and a choppa. Tacking a shoota on their back, however, doesn't visually remove the +1 attack for having 2 CCWs, so there could be some issues with some opponents. Besides, Orks are BS2 - shooting an automatic weapon one-handed because they want to keep a choppa handy for when they get in krumpin' range makes propa' orky sense.

Even though I have a bunch of actual shoota boys, I plan to eventually model a few with choppas in one hand, shootas in the other, just for the look/added variety.

I bought some washable and reuseable drinking straws from my local dollar store the other day. They are made from a hard plastic that could be cut down and made into barrels. 12 straws like this for $1.00, is way cheaper than buying Gale Force 9 plasticard pipes.

Just like some have said, add a plastic tube to the barrel of the slugga, and it's a shoota! And if you are wanting to keep it cheap, I use the ink tubes from ball point pens instead of buying styrene tubes. Works great! Just pull the pen end off and let the ink flow out...it can get messy, so have something to let it drain into. I did this on a Nob as shown below. Of course I also added a Burna to this one, but you can see how it works...

And if you want, you can add just a bit of plasticard to the back and give the shoota a stock for support.

Good luck!
