Finished up this CSM and was able to snap some photos of him today. There are several random bits used to piece this guy together. The body and left arm are from a CSM Havoc (they're metal bits) the head, which is also metal, is from a CSM Lord(?) blisterpack, the right arm and shoulder pad are from the current CSM box set, his bolter is from an old school CSM boxed set and the chainsword is from an old SM bits sprue. The color scheme for this mini was inspired by Dakka's Yggdrasil and the lava base was inspired by Lemmingspawn. I found a sweet tutorial he did on lava bases over at Coolminiornot.com. So, before the pics, I'd like to say a big, "Thanks!" to both, Yggdrasil and Lemmingspawn for the inspiration!!!!

Thanks for looking! As always, any C & C's are appreciated.

Love the lava base, but I think you might need to reposition the chain coming out of his sword-hilt. It doesn't really look like it's in motion, or reacting to his movements. It needs to bend to one side.

@I-bounty-hunt-the-elderly: I appreciate the compliment on the base. The chain does have some movement to it. I think the photos' angles are making it appear more straight and not showing the bend in it. There are more photos in my WIP blog (link in my sig) or in my photo gallery here on dakka. If you randomly have ever seen the CSM box set that is currently out, that chain and skull come off those sprues and I didn't bend it or morph it in anyway.

@Flashman: Thanks, man, I appreciate it!

-Thought I'd add this shot from the bottom, showing a much better angle of the lava's OSL

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

First off, the OSL is amazing, really wish I could pull that stuff off!

Secondly, that bolter baffles me. It looks like he's going to fire giant lag bolts into the enemy. I guess it's a great idea if he plans on securing them to concrete, though.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

That's a funny looking bolt pistol.

I like it. Very gritty and not all cartoon like which I see too often.

I agree with the chain though, it looks too straight. The other pics show a slight bend but it still doesnt look right. Still, not a big deal and a good job done.

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.

@CrashUSAR & Melkiordarkblade: Thanks for the comments! As for that bolt gun - I don't know what to tell you. At first, when I pieced it together I liked it, but after painting it, I'm somewhat indifferent to it. I like the bayonet and the extended barrel, but think the barrel itself, is too thin. Ideally, it was supposed to look like either an odd suppressor or vents to compensate for recoil. In the end, I wanted something different. I think I achieved that, but I'm not totally sold on it.

@OoieGoie: Thanks! I prefer to use a darker palette most of the time when I paint. I'm glad you like it. As for the chain...you can see the bend in that top pick, although, I agree it's not that dramatic. I know it's not perfect or exactly "right" looking, but if you had a skull attached to a chain at the bottom of the sword it wouldn't just sway left and right it would actually bounce around quite a bit. Oh well, I'm not going to let it get to me. Thanks for commenting!
