I was just cruising the GW site and checking out how much it would cost me to add a couple things to my Sisters of Battle and I noticed some odd pricing changes.

HQs and Elites stayed the same.
Troops and Fast attack dropped.
Heavy support had a couple drop (the heavy weapons dropped a dollar) and the Immolator is now the price of a Razorback. Exorcist did NOT drop ( :( )
Finally, the shrine in the bitz section dropped a bit too.

All these changes were noticed in the United States version of their site.

Just thought it was worthy news as it seems they may either be clearing stock or just realized they were selling fewer... whatever the case may be, happy day for us SoB players!

That's interesting, all the Canadian prices look the same to me though. It also looks like they pulled all of the packs of 3 sisters with bolters from the web store.

Still obscenely expensive over here. A squad of 10 will set you back £34.00.

What an interesting marketing strategy.

I mean, if rumour is to be believed, then at some point they will produce plastic sisters, which will make these metal sisters obsolete over night. Normal market practice would suggest that a serious price drop would maximise their sales and clear unwanted stock....

The way that GW is doing this, they will be forced to scrap remaining stock. Add to the fact that most people will not be flocking to buy the current range because the army has been so neglected over the years, and they must surely have a situation where stock is rotting on their shelves....

Very well said Delephont. For future reference though; don't bring reason onto the internet please.

However, I agree with his reasoning, although surely the next SoB are a long way off and this seems to be localised to the states.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Thing is, metal models can just melted down and used for something different. No idea how cost efficient that is overall like, but it is possible.

This pricing is probably a localised blip.

GW will continue to do what GW always does, its own thing. The metals will either disappear completely or over into the collectors section, or the status quo will remain until new minis and codex are ready for release.

Generally not possible, actually. I asked the guys at Iron Wind Metals about sending in old metal sprue bits and such, and if lots of people did it, if it would save money.

The short answer was no, that it was highly impractical.

Longer answer is that even pewter has different casting proportions of the metals used. The difference is generally very small, but if pieces are melted down and re-used there could be batch differences that can screw up all kinds of things.

So chances are a bunch of Sisters produced over a decade or so would cause a lot more problems than it would save money.

I would assume the costs for handling those blisters that have already been prepared for shipping would vastly outweigh the benefits of recycling the material for reproduction.

GW probably ships its material into its foundry, to do this they will have a very specific handling process.

The Immolator has always been the same price as the Razorback, and the listing for basic Battle Sisters still hasn't returned.
