So, even though I have an ongoing Siege of Vraks project, for Christmas this year I got a Tau Battleforce(Yes, I know Christmas was a long time ago by now). I have decided to paint them like this:

Here's the Battleforce:

The assembled Battleforce:

Here is the Battleforce set up against a ragtag AoBR gang of Orks that seems to have made its way into my miniature collection:

This is was happens when you try to spraypaint miniatures in the winter cold(luckily most survived):

Some pictures of the commander all painted:

The first Fire Warrior painted: (the lighting is bad i still need to perfect picture-taking)

The second Fire Warrior painted:

That's all for now, hopefully I can make some more progress. C&C welcome.

Thank you! I actually tried putting some "dirt" on their white armor like it showed in the artwork, as if they were fighting in a ruined city. Btw, does anyone have any suggestions on how to paint kroot?

It's hard to see in the pictures, but battle hardened Tau are awesome too! A good way to paint kroot is to paint their skin, wash it, (for example I do my kroot with Knarlock or Gretchin green then a badab black wash) do highlights and then their shoulder pads the same color as your tau armor or give them war paint that is the same color as your tau armor to give them that unified army look.

Thanks for the advice, I like the idea of the unified army look too.

Nice. I hope you get plenty of Kroot, because my IG will close with you without your Distance Weapons advantage.

If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent I'd have all my money back.

Speaking of IG, hopefully I can get some Vostroyans someday to fight my Tau. I've always loved the Vostroyan miniatures.

This isn't really an update, but I was experimenting with my camera and took some new pictures of the Tau.

Yummy, new Tau paint theme. It seems like its harder to find the stock painting style on dakka. Not that that's a bad thing...

Not for long. The polar bears are riding the melting glaciers south in search of penguin-steaks.

Which looks better, white shoulder pads to match with the Tau Warriors or metal shoulder pads?

A very clear crisp look that I can respect, given my perversion for 2nd edition Ork colours. And as stated above, a very nice white colour.

I won't bother.

Thanks everyone. So do the white shoulder pads or the metallic ones look better on the kroot? And hopefully I will figure out how to take crisper photographs sometime.

I say both! A mixed approach would be cool, or possibly using them to differentiate squads (if you ever get that many) If I had to pick one though I would probably go for the white, just to tie them in with the rest of your force.

Very nice, clean and crisp White mentioned before is hard to do, will you be adding to the army once you have finished the battle force or will you be leaving it as it is, also could you put up a link to your brake work I would be interested in looking at that, keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing them complete
