I'm looking for a good countdown game timer, specifically for Scrabble, but I figured it could apply for mini's games as well. Ideal are:

Digital clocks that count down and show exact minutes and seconds of time remaining and of overtime

according to the regulations, but I figure that's pretty broad. I'd prefer something not in the 100 dollar price range, maybe 40 or so is the most I'd want to drop, though all suggestions are welcome. Has Dakka any clue?

I get the feeling that "I have a cellphone" won't fly in a tournament for some reason :/ It needs to be like a chess timer, with two sides and at tourneys each player has to bring their own, to clarify.

I got a DGT easy plus gametimer (for bloodbowl mostly). They're in the $30-40ish range and do all the variation modes (time per turn, time per game, time allowance per turn + limit for game, time allowance per game + limit for turn) which can be useful.

e.g. you can say "each turn is 4mins but you have a 10minute pool of extra time to use over the course of the game" or "you have 30 minutes for the game but you get 2 minutes extra each turn", etc.

Incidentally, there is a pretty good chess clock app for android.

Good stuff. I imagine it's holding up well for you? Does it see a fair amount of use?

Had it for many years now. (5, I think)

DGT make the official chess clocks for international level competition so you know they're not putting out junk. http://digitalgametechnology.com/site/index.php/Clocks/

FYI, if you only want the basic turn or game countdown modes, you can get an Easy (no plus) Gametimer - they're a fair bit cheaper.
