So, I've recently come into possesion of a Sicarius model, and whilst ot would be more prudent perhaps to paint him as a DA (which I already have an army of) or a BT (Which I'm considering building next), I've decided to do him as a one off. So, I'd appreciate your votes as too what chapter he should hail from; I was thinking Mantis warriors or Angels Sanguine, but I'm open too all suggestions. The only real rule is no first founding chapters.

Thanks in advance, and if this thread is in the wrong place I apologise.

Mantis Warriors would make sense...
The veteran skills represent the veterans (Obviously)
The re-roll to seize the initiative would represent either how desperate the Mantis Warriors are or their hard-won tactical genius.
The sword could simply be a special relic of the chapter.

The actual Sicarius model? I dunno, maybe Ultramarines? It'd save you the time of fileing off all those U's.

The Sons of Orar. Awesome colour scheme and the chapter symbol is basically the same as the Ultramarine's only upside down.

As I said, I've got nothing against Ultras, but I'm not interested in doing a first founding chapter (So, Ultras, Salamanders, Imperial fists, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Iron hands, White scars, or the other one). I considered sons of Orar, but the Celestial lions have also grabbed my attention.

Any other votes?

I will echo the majority, and go with Ultramarines. Cato Sicarius is my favorite IC out of C:SM, and is the main reason why I started playing 40K, let alone Ultramarines (See the page with his battle company displayed in the codex, and you will see why).

Fluffwise, I think the stories of his exploits are great and a very fun read. Practically speaking, as far as game play, he isn't an overpowered character, but for the amount of smaller game bonuses (Rerolling seizing Initiative, Ld 10 across the board, etc...), he isn't overpriced either. I've won and lost games with him on my list, but every game that I play with him is a lot of fun.

Go Ultramarines. You won't be sorry you did!

Ah, but that's the thing. I hate actual Sicarius' fluff. He feels like the giant 'I win' button of the Ultramarines. I respect that Ultramarines are the general consenseus, but as I said I'm interested in doing a lesser known chapter here.

+ 1 for the Sons of Orar.

Really nice colour scheme. Very nice contrast between the pearl white of their shoulder pads and helmets and the red of the rest of their armour. And as kizzdougs said, their chapter symbol is the same than their founding chapter's symbol but upside down.

I vote Dark Angels.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

Didnt know who the Sons of Orar were 'till today but if I had a Sicarius model that's how I'd paint him up.

Sicarius is a massive D-bag.
That is the reason i hate him...
Celestial Lions might be an awesome idea...

Think I've managed to narrow my choices down to 3 chapters: Celestial Lions, Sons of Guilleman, and (gasp!) Blood Ravens. I'm going to make a poll, so if you would give me one last push to help decide I'd really appreciate it.

Definitely those golden lion boys. They got some neat fluff.

I'd go for the sons of guilliman. They don't have the best background of the three, but definitely the best coulour scheme.

No Sons of Orar?
Ok then, i vote for the Sons of Guillman. They have the same advantages as the other sons (cool colour scheme and simular chapter symbol). I think Sicarius would look great in the quartered blue and white.
