I've just painted up a Long Fang. He's just about done. Going to finish up the left arm then glue it on and complete the base. I'm quite satisfied with how he turned out except for the face. After an hour of fiddling, the face still looks horrible to me, but I'm a bit too tired now to keep re-painting and re-painting.

What do you all think? Should I redo the face or just leave it as it is? And if to redo, which part is in serious need of re-working?

Base needs flocking and an arm putting on

Not sure really as he looks good. Just reduced window to 50% to make him closer to actual size and looks great.

The teeth and tash are too close tonally imho
Do SW's have time for such glorious dental hygiene and bleaching of the tombstomes?

My only crit is that the style looks flat but that is personal taste and also possibly some washout because of the flash.
Though a touch of yellow will help. I feel as the blue grey white and black are quite cold. Washes of a pale yellowish colour on the fang necklace and bellyskull would help.
Maybe something on his hair too just to lift the colours a touch.

you are not far off the mark at all
keep up the good work!

ps Does he remind anyone else of Burt Lancaster?

For some reason this jumped to mind immediately.

Thanks for the comments and critique.

The red and yellows are more vibrant in real life. It does look rather washed out, probably due to the flesh. I had intentionally painted a colder gold to see how it looks. Maybe I'll try a warmer gold for the next model and see which looks better. I think the teeth makes him look rather comical and am wondering whether should I redo them, though I've already redid them a couple of times.

And for interest, here he is, life size. A little too small to really see anything.

He looks kind of scared.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Sigh. Yes. I agree. That was my first impression after i painted the eyes in. I tried to change the eye shape so that he won't have that scared look, and it got better. But still...
