Sorry if this may sound like an excess question, I recently got word of a rule that I've never heard about before and I couldn't find in the rulebook, but it's sometimes very easy to miss things in there. It's possible the player who told me of it, who is a veteran 40k'er, has mistaken a 4th edition rule for 5th.

So, he said that a scoring unit can only hold 1 objective, not more. So you can't, for example, take a troop squad and hold 2 objectives that are 12" away from each other. I'm just wondering if there is such a rule and if there is, a page of reference would be appreciated. Thanks.

No such rule exists. If he beleives it does ask him to show it to you and he won't be able to.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

It didn't come up in a game, just discussing tactics and such with the guy.

Thanks for the quick answer.

Some of the 4th edition scenarios did indeed limit you to holding only one objective, but there was no general ban.

The FW Badab scenarios, those that involve objectives, DO have a limitation on one unit taking a maximum of one objective.

I'd suggest you point him at the GW Main Rules FAQ:

Q: Can the same unit control several objectives, providing
it is large enough to be within 3" of each one of them ?
(p91)
A: Yes, absolutely, but we find this does not happen that
often when enemies are around...
