Alright, everyone that is a parent is proud of the obvious milestones a child reaches. Walking, talking, driving, graduating, etc...
what is something that is more of a 'off the beaten path' moment/event that makes you proud? a good example is Kingcrackers
thread about Princecracker. i honestly couldn't pay my kids to play 40k. they thought the 'little army men looked cool', but had
nothing near the enthusiasm PC shows!
and for parents of multiple kids, the bar does rise and fall differently. you don't have to list everything.
for me. my son's would have to be the first time i heard him play "anesthesia" from Metallica. and of coarse his first show. like 25 people showed up in a dive
of a venue, but hey that's my kid!
and not to leave kids out of this, what have your parents said was their moment you made them proudest?

Flashman junior is only 8 months old, so I'm still in the everything he does makes me proud stage.
My favourite moment would be shortly after childbirth. The last 30 minutes of which were fairly frantic and he emerged looking pretty much dead. However once the clever (and in my mind vastly underpaid) doctors had got him moving and breathing, Mrs Flashman was taken away to be stitched up and they left me to hold him by myself. So I guess that first hour of peace and quiet with he and I sussing each other out is my proudest moment.

My Son makes me proud all the time (well...most of the time),but a few gold moments would be.
When he first asked me to play a game of 40k.
When he took first place in his Tae Kwon Do tournament.
When he finally learned to make a proper E chord.
And on one occasion that almost made me laugh myself into a heart attack, while having a conversation with his Sister about god,he replied to her statement of " I believe in god." by saying " I believe in squid...I can see squid."
My daughter makes me proud with her determination and stubernous (even if she gives me a head ache sometimes).
And with her artistic talents, she can literally draw anything she sees
She also makes me proud (and worried) with her fearlessness, she doesn't scare easy.
My Missus says our Daughter takes after me...I believe she's correct...and that sort of scares me.

My little queen of Chaos won me over the day she popped out. But the latest fav moment what when she was smiling at the store clerk only to cover the Thomas the train stickers the had stashed into her lil diaper. That and she loves to laugh like the warboss in DoW1. nothing cuter than a barly walking lil girl going "hur hur hur".

Honestly, my parents haven't told me of a time that i've made them proud. Sure, there are those 'purely4ego' momenst like after the school play when you're about 7, but we all know they don't really count.
I reckon the moment they'll be the proudest of me is when I stop needing a place to crash.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Not really my parents..but my brother.
When he told me he was gay and asked if that bothered me. I gave him a little "You're my brother and nothing will make me love you any less" speech that to this day still fills him with immense happiness. He sent me a message not to long ago stating that. It made meh happeh

So, I was in this place people call the mall a while back. And I had the urge to expel some bad spirits. As I went into the bathroom, I chose the urinal closes to the corner so I could have some privacy. So I whip out Lord Pevincy and let him loose the bad spirits. Well, I was looking at the wall as the Lord was expelling the spirits and I seemed to have gotten distracted. Turns out, I missed a little.
SO I'm sitting at my computer right, and I have a Coke, Bottled mind you. But it got warm, so I got a Coffie cup and I filled it with the coke and some Ice and I sipped as I did my internet stuff. So like and hour passed and I hadn't sipped any of it. and when I go to sip it, I notice that something solid is in it. So I'm like, "No, why would there be something solid in my coke?" SO I pull these solid THINGS off my tongue and guess what they are? F ING ANTS! I was like WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And so I ran into the Kitchen coughing and what not and I threw those little bastards down the drain with a flood of hate and cold water.......those bastards are lucky I don't have my Nucians yet!!! |

Now, I don't glorify violence.
I abhor bullies.
My kids are all taught that they are not to EVER start a fight but that, if one is started with them, they better by God finish it.
My oldest daughter was picked out for terrorizing by one of the school bullies.
Never physical that anyone could prove, but she said he liked to push her.
He was verbally horrible to her.
One day at school, he shoved her (witnessed), and she had enough. She beat the snot out of him.
My moment of pride was hearing the principal describe to me how she was straddling him on the ground, punching him in the arms as he covered his head and face, screaming at him to "Get up and fight like a man."
My son had a girlfriend. He found out that she cheated on him... physically... with another kid. Someone supposed to be a friend of my son's.
He was livid. I could see it. He wanted to just pound the kid.
He didn't, though. He was on the football team, and it meant more to him to stay on the team than to show the other young man precisely how he felt about the situation. Instead, he just kept himself separated from the guy.
Sadly, he took the girl back for a while.
My youngest 2 have their occasional moments of pride, but nothing that strikes me as just *bam* out of the ordinary.

My parents were proudest of us when we started college, my brother and I are the first in our family to ever reach higher education and if all goes well we'll also be the first in our family to go beyond an E-9 pay grade (my brother and I plan to commission in the Air Force after college).
Now I don't have any kids but I do babysit and they're the closest thing I have to kids. The proudest I've ever been of them was when we were driving to their swim lessons and they were rocking out to a Metallica instrumental, I don't play anything besides instrumentals for fear that they may pick up some words.
I know for a fact that they pick up words, another time we were driving to their swim lessons the middle child said "I know how to spell damn! D-A-M-N" in the proudest way he could. I got whiplash from how fast I turned to him, in fact I think my sunglasses came off.
Besides that they love nerf guns and legos, even the oldest daughter.

Nah. That one's 24 and on her own.
It's the 12 year old I've got to watch out for. She's approaching "MM" levels of stubbornness.
KingCracker reminded me of a moment with her, though...
She was about 9 months old, sitting in her seat (hollow, plastic "little tikes" seat with an attached tray). Suddenly, she let this echoing responding fart. Like, adult levels of loud.
Like KC, I just started laughing my butt off. As I started to calm down, I looked at her and said, "Do it again, baby."
A few moments of grunting later and
"PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT"
We repeated this two more times. On the fifth overall try, I had to tell her to stop. She was pushing so hard, her face was turning purple. The wife and I were afraid she'd pass out.
The girl's gas STINKS.
Her nicknames include "Fart knocker" and "Rumble Butt" (inspired by R A Salvatore's nickname for Regis the halfling).

Out fishing with my littlest one a couple of summers ago (he was about 4/5 then). He caught, by himself... 9 small mouth bass, at least 3 of which were over 18" long and nearly doubled his pole over!
He did so well that when we parked the boat at a lake-side diner for lunch, several of the other adult guests recognized us and came over to congratulate him on such a good job fishing!

My daughter pulled her first tactical manoeuvre yesterday morning. It was an outflank of epic proportions.
While chasing after her to brush her teeth (she's only 2) she managed to sneak into a side room so that when I walked past she was able to enter the hall and shout "DADDY".
It gave me the fright of my life. And after a little bit of surprise induced light hearted swearing we had a chuckle about it.
I really should stop her swearing though.

The same kid who said he could spell 'damn' decided to enlighten me to another one of his new vocabulary words.
"Yeah you can't shoot that guy or he'll get pissed off.", while watching his sister play a game, it was some lego game on their website so don't worry I'm not letting them play CoD.
After timeout for 5 minutes we went outside in the snow and the eldest showed great diplomatic skills.
"Give me your snowball or I'll hit you with this one." she said to her younger brother as she held a clump of snow almost as big as her head.

Thats funny. My son is a damn ninja as well. When he was around 3, he TRASHED his room, and then called me by screaming to the top of his lungs. I ran into his freaking, and just didnt see him ANYWHERE. So now Im a bit paniced like WTF just happened. I left and he called me again, I turn around and go inside, nothing just toys and junk everywhere. Then he starts laughing, and sits up and shoots me with a nerf gun. The little bastard trashed his room, just to hide in plain sight and shoot me.
Creed has nothing on that.

I look forwards to something like that [note to self: no gunz!] She also managed to hide under her bed (a gap I didn't think she could fit under], and I ran around the house desperately looking for her worrying that she might somehow have found a way out of a window. Most paniced 10 seconds of my life until she shouts "Peepo"! Phew is and understatement!
