The FW Hydra conversion kit below is suppose to be a conversion from what? I'm assuming they send you the awesome firing base on top but what are you suppose to buy to seamlessly model what they have in their picture? Is it a Chimera? Has anyone bought one of these with any explanation on how to go about converting for it. Like the top looks like a normal firebase but what do I need to do to a Chimera (if that's the tank you need) to convert this? Do I need to cut a hole to fit the auto cannons? Does it come with the base on top to fit the guns on?

Be prepared to put some time and effort into the kit, a friend of mine bought three of the kits, and due to the nature of the resin used all of them came with the gun barrels bent to some degree.

Hot water dips and some teasing straightened the worst of it out, but they were never completely straight.

Yep, Basilisk, though you could probably make a Chimera work too if you really wanted to. The big difference I've seen is the back end of the Hydra doesn't extend out as far from the hull as the Chimera.

I just got a Manticore from them last week (identical except that it has missiles instead of guns). I actually ordered the full kit though.

Yes, it's a good bet the barrels will be bent when they arrive just the nature of the beast.

Something of note though, in the Manticore complete kit I got, it came witht he OLD Chassis with the road wheels and large float tanks, not the new one. So, that's something to bear in mind when you order. I know I plan to salvage some of the road wheels and use them as detail pieces on other models.
