I am playing on an escalation league and will probably add 5 Reavers to the next round. I will probably run a unit of 5 as well as an Eagle to outflank and mess with Characters in the back or take out Warmachines.
Is there any point to giving them spears, or more correctly letting them keep spears? They would only run in a single rank, and if I add 6 they might run in 2. But I think you would need at least 3 ranks to see any benefit from the spears.
Ditch the spears and free up a few points to spend somewhere else?
Remember, just in case you add a pile of reavers, that cavalry spears don't add the additional rank of attacks, just the bonus Str on the charge. Spears behave differently depending on the unit type of the model using them.
Yep. Spears are just inferior lances when you sit on a horse.
Why the High Elves don't all use lances is beyond me. It would be a little more comforting if spears did something to reflect that they're lighter and easier to wield than a big ol' lance, but no. Just crappy half-lances.
