Hi,

I made an online text based game which needs more players and also more testers. It was inspired from the PC game of Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War.

The story is that you take control over an army (a chapter/warband and etc) which is either the SM, Chaos, Eldars and Orks and you raise an army to attack/ally with other existing players and eventually start taking over the Warhammer galaxy.

Each time you attack somebody you gain experience points and eventually a level which can unlock new units or upgrades, at the moment the only things that can be unlocked are the infantry, but eventually it will include vehicles, gods and ships.

It is tick based so you gain turns, requisition and power by the hour.

It isn't going to be everyones cup of tea because its mostly text-based at the moment, but eventually it will have a galaxy map where systems can be taken over.

So hang on, what is legal? Cos I asked my friend who knew about their lawsuits and he told me that as long as I'm not making any money on it I should be fine

Look around on GW's site, they have a page all about their IP and how you can use it on your site and still be ok. Too lazy to look for the link myself, but it's there somewhere. And yeah keep it free, I wouldn't even put any google ad words or anything like that just to be safe.

If they won't let you play their game on vassal, I don't know how you could expect
them to let you run an internet game using their trademarks. You might be better
off just calling things: Space Knights, Space Elves, etc.

Yeah, change the names and such, just to be safe... everyone will know that you're running 40k..

Remember don't take GW's paperwork as actual law. Their pages are filled with scare tactics. Do the research yourself.

btw I thought Daemons ARE Chaos? Sorry but I've only played the PC Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War and thats what I was basing the website on.
