Was the original Prone to crashing? Seems every other time i die it crashes out. Hasn't been to big of a problem was just wondering.
Oh and just on the off chance, anyone elses disk of opposing force have a virus on it or was that just mine?

From what I've played and seen it really isn't prone to crashing, if you're using a newer operating system that may be affecting the gameplay negatively.

I tried to play american mcgee's alice in wonderland a few months ago on my newer computer and had the same troubles. What OS are you using? Maybe there is a better driver out there that will help?
Of course if you are desperate to play Half Life again, maybe you can wait on Black Mesa? It is still considered Vaporware at the moment, but I have faith that it will be released eventually.

I played Half Life back when it first came out and I don't remember it ever crashing. It was released before the consumer windows versions switched to the NT kernel, so that's probably the cause of the instability.

Oh well it autosaves frequently enough that its no problem, i still find it odd my opposing force had a virus on it. that's the first time ive had a CD have one.
