I was wondering what happened when a space wolf rune priest casts tempest's wrath (deep strikers within 24" count terrain as difficult and dangerous) and your opponent launches a drop pod, does it have to move away from the 24" field effect causing the difficult terrain since it moves out of the way, or can it just land and it and its troops take a dangerous terrain check?

Why would it move away? Drop Pod scatter rules are not affected by DIFFICULT terrain, only by impassable terrain and other models. It would land whereever it lands, and if it's in the area of difficult terrain, it takes a dangerous terrain test. Simples, yes?

As above.

There is a common misconception that Drop Pods avoid all types of terrain; they dont. They ONLY avoid (if you moved there through scatter) IMpassable terrain. Nothing else.

So you would take a dangerous terrain test for the pod AND for the occupants, as they count as deepstriking as well.
