Just when I thought I had clearly understood the result of crushing claws on model's initiative, regardless of adrenal glands or whatever raised that value...
ENKHANNA wrote:1.- I'm a carnifex (I=1), I'm a living ram (I=+2 on charge), I have crushing claws (I=1) and adrenal glands (I=+1 on charge), now I'm charging:
What's my initiative total?

yakface wrote:1) You strike at I1, because the rules for Crushing Claws state that you strike at I1 regardless of other modifiers.

...I get to read Old One Eye's profile:
Crushing claws AND living ram on Oldie??
WTF, GW, WTF???

Theyre being complete for the sake of being complete: OOE is a carnifex, therefore has living ram.

Same as having crushing claws on a normal carnifex doesnt remove living ram; it doesnt need to.

Just one more reason ole' Robin what'shisbutt needs to be smacked with a salmon.

Actually it was a sensible thing to include; it makes it clear he is a fex, it means he is consistent with all other fexes as far as standard rules go.

Robin tends to write reasonably tight rules. Not a great codex, power level wise, but most of the codex is decently written from a rules perspective.

BUT
There are other special units/creatures, based in regular nids, that have features absent in their original base, and have NOT some other features present in their inspiring models, for example:
Doom is not synapse creature, though it is based in zoans AND is an obviously superior psychics unit, again WTF, GW???
I'm not demanding complete eradication of crushing claws initiative cut, but lowering it to, let's say, just 2 (Oldie's special claws only?) would mean a world.

Perhaps the topic is starting to become fitting transfer to proposed rules, but that was not its original intention...

Doom is a mutation - presumably that mutation stopped the synapse abilities.

Yes, dropping the init penalty to 2 would make a difference. Unfortunately that is termed "tough, they didnt write the rules that way"

It helps for Initiative checks the round Old One Eye assaults. Claws make OOE strike at I1. Living Battering ram actually adjusts the stat.
