Just out of curiosity, if you divide the number of points your army is by the total cost of it at full retail price, what does it come to?

If you know something will be converted/ scratch sculpted from bitz just ignore it (unless it's expensive) and guess anything that's hard to work out.

If people can also make it clear which system it's for that would be handy. Just curious really what the difference is between them.

My skaven army would be around 6pts per £.

This is a really hard question to answer. there are any answers for each army. It all depends on the army list, a 2000 point Ork army consisting entirely of infantry will be more expensive then 2000 points of Deff Dreads and Kanz. And then there's the option of scratch building, which would change costs. Or there's also Forgeworld, and doing other fun conversions. Not to mention each country has different prices for the same product(even after accounting for taxes and currency conversion.) There are just too many variables to have an accurate price per point comparison.

My Deathwing army would normally be one of the more expensive armies , but I along with many others have not paid retail for some time. So this question would be very hard to answer objectively.

I calculated today that if you get a BA battleforce and astaroth you can make a 1000pts army. That's 7p per point.

It varies dramatically. My C:IG army (tank heavy) is approx £0.35 per point / 2.8 points per £ but it's packed with FW models - There's £160 for four russes and £60 of heads! What's awful is when you work out the cost per model - it's £9.60 per model (£700 for 73 models) for that army....

My Orks (40K fully mech) were about £0.10 per point / 10 points per £ on average and about £2.40 per model.

Each model in my Space Marines army that I'm currently working on costs $20 per model for just the basic parts to make the marines, and that increases as I add accessories (and I use a lot of accessories).

So depending on the rank of each marine, I'd say somewhere between $20-25 per model.

Hmmm, Hard to approximate for whole armies as I have a fair amount of conversions /etc in both my Death Guard and Orks.
However, since the majority of my DG troops are a FW/CSM combo I'd say $7.00 dollars per Plague Marine/$16.00 dollars per terminator (Dear Lord...)

I cant begin to speculate on my Praetorians as the prices vary from one purchase to the next since all the minis are OOP and there is no "set" price in sales.

I'm in the same boat. I actually need to figure this out for renter's insurance, because I have literally hundreds of painted praetorians that at this point cost about $5/model for lasgunners, and more for specials/heavies.

So, the per model cost of my IG is far above retail.

OTOH, I have 10k of eldar that I bought used for pennies on the dollar (yay 2nd edition sculpts), where the per model cost is far, far lower than retail.

Edit: although thinking about it, even with new cadians, my typical 1850 tournament IG army would cost a lot, given that I have 16 melta guns in it (and only 3 plasma).

Taking my list I'm currently running with my Necrons it's about $0.24 per point. $362 for a 1500 point army isn't too bad. Shame it's a list that eats up over $30 in one 360 point character.

Ok so 1500 points of chaos space marines comes to roughly:

£225.50(nothing scratch built) and has roughly 35 models

so thats 15p per point and 6.44 per model.

Hmm doesnt seem as expensive as i thought it would have lol.

For the exact same points as abouve you can get Necrons for £176.35 for 50 models which equates to:

11p per point and £3.53ish per model.

Wow i want necrons now more bang for my buck lol.

10 bucks per model. Doesn't matter if its a leader, a grunt, or a heavy weapon. 10 bucks.

Sans paint, brushes, odds and ends, bits, and the gubbins. Prices vary with the new way of GW BS, but on the whole, vehicles can run me upwards to up to 30 Bucks. More paint, gubbins, and bits.

Hence, why the Catachan 82d has an abundance of walkers and are usually on foot. They've got a couple of Chimera's, but other then that, they walk. (Can't get parts when your on the go all the time.) I've been kicking around the idea of putting together some of those Ork trucks, or making my own for them, but have never gotten around to it.

I've got a contingent of straight leg Cadian 8th, that I've tooled up with an armor section- a Balisk, and a Tank Platoon.

Since the General Staff section began, my logistics have gone through the roof, and I've been on the lookout for some battlecrusers and an Emperor class battl;eship, especially since the advent of the RPG.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Roughly $9.33 per model.

Granted I got a lot of the stuff at discount (Crusader for $45, picked up a cheap dread, etc) and used prepaid cards and gift cards so not all of the money was mine either.

Dantes Deep Strike : about 3 per model. I just took my old figures, such as the oop death company for vanguard, grey knights converted with sanguinary wings for saguinary guard, etc. Instead of selling models I dont need I spent less than 1/2 of what I originally would have paid through conversion work. The problem: it took so long to convert my stuff I have no time to paint it as Im back in school power lifting textbooks with my brain

Space Marines: $250 for figures, maybe $400 for all the vehicles. cost per figure is a bit over $1.50. Cost per vehicle is average $40.
Eldar: $300 for infantry, $400 for vehicles. Infantry around $3 per figure. Mostly metals, mostly RT/2nd ed.
GK: $300 for infantry. Nothing for vehicles (borrowed SM stuff).
Guard: $500 all up. A lot of 2nd hand plastic RT figures. Some new stuff. Scratchbuilt a lot of stuff.

Spread over 20 years.

Way below cost. Most of the armies were bought when they were much cheaper - or in the case of anything post 3rd ed, 2nd hand for a pittance.

I am pondering about other costs now, paints, primer, brushes, quickshade, glue, ,GS.

I must be pushing £4 a model? so that would be for a SM tactical trooper...£4 / 16pts = 25p per point

Nevermind dreads, tanks and Characters....

2500pts x 25p = I need Insurance!
