set-up- one ruin in opposite corners, urban barricades in the middle in a square, small building in the square, lots of craters.
turn 1:
I win roll-off for deployment, and put the sanguinary guard in the building, backs to the wall, joined by attached Audax. Devastators take up position on the top floor, tac squad, sternguard and lenore go in ursus behind a crater.
He puts bezerkers, vindicator, 10 CSM & pred in craters, 10 marines in the building and chaos lord hiding behind the vindicator.
scout squad A (HB/shotguns) scout behind the barricades, 11" away from the crater with 10 marines in, while scout squad "Caddius" infiltrates out of LOS behind the ruin on the other side of the wall to the vindicator.
scout squad A moves into the ruin's top floor.
sanguinary guard jump to 5" away from nurgle squad A in the building.
ursus moves next to the ruin with scout squad A in.
sternguard, Lenore and tactical squad disembark.
devastators shoot at bezerkers, hitting & wounding all but with cover saves only 6 die.
ursus' storm bolters wound the lord in the crater.
sternguard kill 4 bezerkers with some AP3 shots, and they roll poorly for cover.
tac. squad wounds the lord again with BP's, rolling poorly to wound.
sanguard shoot the nurgle in the building, killing one.
audax kills a further 2 with smite (AP2 yay!)
scouts miss every shot bar three, which 2 fail to wound and the last one pings of the traitor's armour.
Lenore & Tac. SM assault the lord, lose 3 men and Lenore kills him.
Caddius wrecks the vindicator with a well-placed meltabomb and consolidates into the cover of the wrecked tank.
sanguard kill the remaining nurgle marines in the ruin, with help from audax's might of the ancients, taking 2 wounds.
Traitor turn 1
beserkers move towards lenore's group.
CSM move towards lenore's group.
nurgle squad B moves away from everyone, into the far corner from thee devastators.
the other CSM move towards the sternguard.
pred moves away from caddius.
predator shoots the ursus, blowing it up and killing a sternguard.
the other CSM kill 2 sternguard with massed BP-fire.
CSM kill 2 tac. SM via BP-fire.
bezerkers shoot BP's at lenore's lot, but fails to penetrate thier ceramite.
beserkers and CSM assault lenore's lot, killing 3 in total, and losing all the beserkers in turn.
total KP- SM 3, CSM 1.
SM turn 2:
Caddius chases after the pred.
sanguard fly over to the mass brawl in the middle.
devastators kill ONE CSM from the other squad, with a guy overheating and dying.
Sanguard pile in.
Sternguard wade in to help lenore, losing 2 men and collectively with the sanguard killing all but 1.
Caddius immobilises the pred.
lenore kills the remaining CSM from the first squad.
Traitor turn 2:
Abbadon & co. turn up.
nurgle squad B move towards the sanguard.
the other CSM move towards Caddius & co.
nurgle SM shoot down 2 sanguards with massed bolter fire.
abbaddon & co. shoot down 3 sanguards.
CSM run towards caddius' squad.
total KP- SM 4, CSM 2.
loyalist turn 3:
Lenore joins Audax and sternguard sarge, who move towards abbadon & co.
Caddius' squad move towards CSM.
Scout squad A kill 2 CSM with HB/shotguns.
Devastators kill 2 TDA CSM and wound abaddon.
Caddius & co. shoot & kill 1 CSM.
Lenore & co. kill the remaining 3 termies with smite, plasma pistol and plasma gun.
Lenore & co. assault abaddon, losing the sarge and Audax, but killing the termie.
Caddius & co. assault the CSM, losing 4 and killing 3.
Traitor turn 3:
Nurgle CSM join in against Lenore, dying but getting him to one wound, abaddon is now on two wounds.
CSM take 2 more casualties, but can't kill Caddius. sarge vs. Caddius now.
total KP: SM 5 CSM 4
Loyalist turn 4:
scout squad A joins in to help Caddius, but dies.
Caddius kills the sarge.
6-5...and it all depends on Lenore vs Abaddon...If abaddon wins, it'll be a draw because it's near store closing time...
Abaddon's daemon sword turns on him at the crucial moment, getting him onto his last wound...and Lenore uses the opportunity to kill abaddon. 7-5 to the sons of corax!
Overall, I think that although the game went quickly, with 4 KP's being taken on turn 1, it all turned into a mass brawl. Had Caddius not distracted the CSM and pred, and blown up the vindicator, It would have probably ID'ed Audax and the sanguards, and with no support, Lenore would have died to the termies and it would have been a very different game. His man of the match- abaddon. Being easily the most expensive unit in his army, it was a real no-brainer. Killing 3 sanguards with bolter fire, then subsequently killing Audax, a sarge and nearly Lenore over two turns.
Mine? Lenore. I'm fed up of voting Caddius, and it's not often I have to think about it, so I went for the leader. He killed abaddon, part of his retinue, a chaos lord and any traitor scum that got in his way, he was like a runaway train pointing at a fuel tanker. No-one knew what was going to happen, but one thing was assured- He'd do lots of cool stuff, and one heck of a lot of people would die in the process.
