It depends on the paint used, if the figures have been painted with good primer before painting and if any varnish has been used after painting.
But they behave exactly the same as GW figures, the metal seems to be pretty close to what GW is using currently, PPs metal is a bit softer but still a lot harder than the one used by Wyrd for example.

Also depends on the model in question. Some are just more prone to chipping then others. For example the scales on a Rhindon unless properly stored will probably chip at somepoint as they rub up against things constantly unless you use varnish or something.

You need to more clearly define the conditions under which your models are chipping.
If you clean, prime, paint and seal them properly they wont chip unless you really abuse them.
If you pull them out of the package, skip the primer, gob on unstirred paint, then proceed to manhandle them they will chip like crazy.

the way normal gw metals have paint peel off when you just leave them on the table. Not chipping i guess.

I've noticed that a few layers of Testors Dullcoat is not enough to keep the paint from chipping off. I'm now dipping all my models just for the extra protection.

Legion has it bad with all those spikey... spikes on the models. Particularly any beast with back spines. I can't keep the paint on the tips from rubbing off. It's a simple fix, but annoying nonetheless.

If you have paint peeling off, it has nothing to do with the model and everything to do with your preparation.
1. Wash the model in either soap and water or simplegreen. Rinse and dry.
2. Spray prime your model completely.
3. Paint the model
4. Apply a gloss coat ( I use Future), let dry completely.
5. Apply matte finish (I use Testor's Dullcote)
If you are skipping any of those steps, that is likely why your paint is magically peeling off.

Really, you guys wash your models?
20+ years of painting models, and the only time I have done that is for the Resin Uncharted Seas and Firestorm Armada stuff I have.
My experience has been that a good spray primer works great, but to each their own.
Painting acrylics straight onto metal or plastic is the most likely culprit here.

I don't was my metal models before painting and only in some cases use spray primer. The paint doesn't peel though as I use 2 coats of varnish gloss and matte to protect the paint job. That is the most important step in my experience.

That doesn't answer the question. If paint is coming off the model like that, the problem is in one of two areas.
1. How YOU painted the model
2. How YOU transport/store the model
The common denominator is YOU.
Unless the model is resin, you typically don't have wash it. But washing it never hurts. Todosi takes it to one notch higher than I do with the Future Floor Wax gloss varnish, but I have never had any problems on models that I have painted using two coats of Testors Dullcote. They are very matte though.
Also how you store/transport your models could be playing a role. If they are in Sabol / Battlefoam trays, things should be pretty safe. If you are carrying everything loose in a grocery bag, things will chip and paint just starts coming off.
