just a quick questiion. I have some gaming friends who dont like to lose and basicaly powergame using tournament standard army lists, and if things arent going their way they quit the game halfway through rather than face defeat. recently they have decided to mix codexes in standard games, for example using a tournament standard blood angel army with an attached squad of Grey Knight terminators. how acceptable is this? personaly i find i avoid playing them cause there is no fun in it.

The Grey Knights have an ally rule that allows other space marine chapters to use some of there units in another space marine army. This is only if you have the older codex as the newer PDF(from games workshop) version had the rule removed.

If your friends are no longer playing games you want to play, it is probably OK to start looking for a new group. That, or hobby while they play. Maybe they will get the hint?
If the only way they can win is to start making house rules, propose some of your own. One that I have always thought is good, trade army lists on occasion. They might think twice about their composition. Or, at least start to feel differently when they get crushed.

Damn. Sounds like a crappy bunch to game with, no offense.
Otherwise, what has been said is what I normally would have said.
Sometimes my friends and I mix codices or ignore the FOC just for fun, I would honestly find new guys to play with.

if you have the option, change armies entirley.
I have a friend who i play against pretty regularly, i nearly always use Chaos and he always plays IG. Last time we played, i thought he might have finally caught onand setup his list to handle my Marines and Rhinos....
So i played necrons, didnt know what hit him.

If your opponents quit half way through rather than face defeat, they already failed. In most books, that's a concession = concede = give up = lose. There's no shame in conceding if you cannot even draw the game (Why fight a war you cannot win?), though.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Thanks dudes, i could just use the best units from each codex as a space pirate army (equall opertunity employers and all that). then i can have a rediculous army with a pet Scythed Hierodule or something.

As most posters have said above me it depends on how acceptable YOU allow it to be. Such as they said, you could always not play with these people, find a new group, or even just paint your figures while they lavish in their unfair ways but that all depends on you.
I play with a rather casual group in terms of army lists we don't strive to have the toughest "tournament" lists. That said we don't mind if you mix in units from other codices as long as it doesn't become ridiculous.
A squad of Grey Knight Terminators rolling with the Blood Angels would be completely okay with us, a unit of Vanguard Veterans with your Dark Angels army? Why not?
It all comes down to how willing you are to let it continue. If you don't like it simply tell them that they are wrong and the rules state you cannot do that or don't play with them. If they get uppity remind them why don't have a girlfriend or wife.

The difference is that this would require a house rule, as it's not allowed by the normal rules of the game. Whereas taking Grey Knights in Space Marine or Imperial Guard armies actually is allowed by the rules.
