I appreciate it's a friendly list, even so there are some real issues:

not enough anti-tank weapons. Perhaps you should scrap a dread and field a predator with lascannons/autocannon. Combi-meltas on the rhinos, and more combi-weapons on the terminator squad, would be a good idea.

Dreadnoughts are so horrible when they shoot your own side. (last game I played against chaos, he fielded them side by side, with multi-meltas . . . one turned around and blew up the other, it was glorious) Drop them until you've taken better units.

Land raider is a good place for demonic possession. I would give the chaos lord a daemon weapon. Not the best choice maybe, but as is you are paying a lot for a character who lacks real punch. Consider taking a sorcerer instead, although both really are inferior to daemon princes.

I've been doing thousand sons for along while back when the split list was available(Demons/Marines mix) the thousand sons termies were sick. As it is now.. Drop the terminators. you have more durability with your regular marines. Dreadnaughts .. no.. no a thousand times no, something that is just as likely to destroy your troops as the enemy, you have few models, you can't afford to lose them due to the dreadnaughts.

The problem i find running the themed list(i'll post mine so you can see I know where your coming from) is the anti tank, i found it easier by fielding a land raider for either transport or firebase (or both) and 2 las cannoned preds. The best option i've seen so far is utilizing oblits.

We have one of the better demon weapons, giving us a ranged shooting attack with d6 shots at bs 5.. oooooh yeah thats good stuff.

Reguardless of friendly our tournament situations your gonna find 2 big problems, 1 mobility (this should be a given, its the price you pay for a 4+ invul and ap3 bolters), and objective holding units.

I usually run 4 squads of marines + 1 9 man unit of demons.. i have a rhino with one of the units and a chaos lord with dw in it to rush forward. Preds are good and durable all things considered due to changes to vehicle damage results but, oblits would be a nice filler for you, I stayed away from them but found a easy themed way of putting them in by saying, it was the ones that mutated before the rubric went off.

Terminators .. depress me.. I used to run a squad of 9.. 9 2 wound 2+/5++ terminators with combibolters/pw and a aspiring sorcerer with wind of chaos(or breath depending on the name now) and a power fist.. and .. god they were awsome.. they shrugged through so much fire and came out the other side and decimated enemies. now.. well.. now your paying alot more for a 1 better armour and 1 less invul...and twin linked bolters.. .. .. .. your marines are better, short of having power weapons.. they are better...

All that being said.. I truly miss my demon/marine mixed list.

The idea with the dreadnoughts is to pair them up, so that they aren't shooting my troops. Since they have missile launchers, they can't obliterate my own guys. The STR 8 missile launchers are also available for anti-tank if necessary.

Terminators w/Lord in the Land Raider (and to some extent, Dreads) are there to add an assault element. I was getting too torn up in the past with just Thousand Sons.

Vindicators seem like they can do just as good a job against tanks as Predators. Sure they don't have the range of a Predator, but if the enemy is sniping me from 48" away, I'm pretty much SOL anyway.

I know that daemons, DP, and oblits are pretty much the staple of current Chaos lists (well, not so much daemons, but they provide some assault troops for TS). But they don't fit well with the (my?) Thousand Sons concept of "all is dust."

At least with terminators I can say that they're either Rubrics or Sorcerers. Obliterators and Daemons are too warped.

Demons not so much I still used horror models to represent my summoned demons, showing the devotion to tzeentch. and if i'm not mistaken according to story Magnus the Red is currently a demon prince. Just giving you the options, and btw, I had a hard time in hand to hand as well, using warptime helps.

In the end its your list, and I'm trying to stay in the confines of a tzeentchian theme as i do myself, but from experience your biggest issues are going to be vehicles more then assaults.

my list in 2k is chaos lord, dw, mot, 4x 8 marines 1 sorcerer tk sons, 3 of them with warptime 1 with wind, 1 rhino 1 landraider, 2 pred anihilators, and 9 demons... all of my theme is tzeentch or tzeentchian numbers (9). I find speed list are sometimes trouble(space wolves thunder calv), but otherwise its not too bad. Try out different things you feel can fit in the theme, play a few games, see what your lacking..
