Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

Seem to remember this topic some time ago, but apparently my "Search-Fu" is fail.

Anyway, I WAS running my Achon with Venom blades and an Agoniser (he runs with a Haemon and 8 Incubi). I figured that was the best of both worlds in that you could choose to wound on 2+ or Ignore Armour.

Then just today I noticed that this loadout robs you of the +1 attack bonus for two weapons. Two special weapons of different types do not confer +1 attacks. So, its got me questioning this particular loadout. I dont like the Huskblade/Soultrap combo's because I think it's a loser, anyone got any opinions on this matter? What's been working for your Archon. At this point I'm thinking that I may replace the Agoniser with a 20pt Djinn blade. I'll lose the "wound anything on 4+", but I'll still have ignore armour or wound on 2's....and I'll retain a splinter pistol. (djinn blade doesnt replace your pistol or CCW that you come with)

I have never failed to seize on 4+ in my life!

Huskblade. Instant deaths anything it touches. Love it, love it!

10'000 years ago, Terra was under siege. The Sons of Rogal Dorn stood firm at the gate, never letting an inch slip away so long as we drew breath. We were killed in droves defending the Emperor and his Imperium, and we killed many in turn. We defended the Emperor and his Imperium, and this is what it means to be a Fist

S3 with that Husk blade is still S3 and Eternal Warrior is on the good killy stuff usually.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

I've had reasonable success with a duo wielding huskblade, shadow field, and splinter pistol, on one and a blaster, agoniser, and ghostplate on the other, even in small games they seem to be worth the points as one goes in each warrior squad

I know you mentioned you don't like the Huskblade/Soul Trap combo, but it really works well. I run my Archon with 4 Incubi (1 of which is a Klaivex), mounted in a Venom. The sheer number of attacks is nice, and when you only need 1 unsaved wound, dropping ICs becomes a joke (unless they have Eternal Warrior, of course). The hardest thing is getting the initial wound, S3 makes for difficult Wound rolls against T4 models. Last battle I had, the Incubi focused on a Captain's Honour Guard (dropping them all over the course of 2 assault phases), and I just had the Archon repeatedly attack the Captain. Eventually he's going to fail a Inv save, where the likelihood is that your Soul Trap will work giving you a S6 insta-death weapon, and with a Shadow Field it's really difficult for most units to kill an Archon in CC.

I think another option would be an Agonizer paired with a pistol (Splinter or Blast), especially if you play a lot of T4 enemies. Against T3 it seems a waste of points when a Power Weapon would have the same effect.

I guess I like Soul Traps because they allow me to bust open transports, and pose somewhat of a threat to things like Tyranid MCs when combined with the Huskblade. It's lazy, but its obvious they're designed to be used in conjunction.

Either way, I love running an Archon. I have Drazhar as well, but Archon nearly always outperforms him.
