Making a tau hammerhead with an iron man flying on the side of it, am free handing it and can draw him easily but i am not sure whch colours would be best? I will use varnish so shiny paints are not needed. And it would be better if it was the colors from the film or recent animated TV shows rather than the original (sorry) . Thanks in advance.

Mecherite red or red gore and gold, GW only do two golds, pick the darker one.

the scheme from the movie would be better, more people can recognise it, and it's not as 'in your face'

The red also has a slight metallic tone to it. Maybe like the way they used to paint hot rods (a slightly translucent red over gold). I guess try mixing it with a metallic medium (not over metallic paint though. ).

For the lights I think base Hawk Turquoise, then Ice Blue leaving a little of the turquoise on the edges. Then mix the Ice Blue with some white do the same. Then pure white doing the same, like OLS.

I use a Red Ink Wash (dunno which one to recommend, as I used a brand of Calligraphy ink sold pretty sparsely here) over a Gold base, which gives the red a metalic luster.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

There was a guy on here that was doing an entire army based on iron man. Converted the helms and such to look like him, his colors were also spot on. Ok I found the guy his user name is Frawg. Check out his gallery

Loved his helmets and am thinking of just using non-metallic paints and then putting shiny varnish on top of the iron man picture only, not the whole tank. Might even use the original color scheme of him to look more retro sci-fi like the tau themselves?

Well thanks for all the advice but I instead of painting iron man on the side of my hammerhead freehanded a poster girl onto the side. And here it is, still got some shading to do and extra details then it is onto the rest of the hammerhead color scheme
