Is the chapter master's orbital bombardment not a blast? It just says ordnance, barrage.

Ordnance is large blast, page 58 main rules.

Edited out "Barrage" as Ordnance is large blast even if it isn't barrage.

It just says "ordnance blast weapons are always large blast", not that ordnance weapons are always blast. ?

Yep, see hellstrike missiles which are ordnance with no blast.

However, all barrage weapons are also blast (P32), all ordnance blasts are large (P58) so an ordnance barrage is, therefore, a large blast.

Poor writing though, since the vast majority of barrage weapons also state explicitly that they are also blast.

Barrage weapons are automatically Blast (p32, 3rd paragraph 1st column) and as you've found, ALL ordnance blast is large blast.

Unless I'm mistaken, all Barrage weapons are blasts, even if it doesn't specify. The only way to resolve Barrage weapons is with the blast rules.

As all Barrages are blasts, all "Ordnance, Barrage" weapons would be "Ordnance, Blast", which would mean that they're "Ordnance, Large Blast."

Barrage are always blasts. Ordnace are always Large blast. So, yes, Ordnace Barrage is large blast.

It would seem that it doesn't always say if they are barrage. But if they say G before the range, its barrage. Wierd.

I've had this problem before... Isn't it so that ordnance blast is always large blast but if blast isn't stated it's not blast at all? Ordnance barrage is always large blast iven if blast isn't stated, no? Confusing...

Ordnance just means it is 2D6, pick the highest for Penetration. Hence Hellstrike missiles on Valkyries

An artifact of a time when Barrage weapons actually required you to guess their range - rather than just placing a template, you'd say "30" towards those Tac Marines" and go from there.

Not quite.

Barrage is always blast.

Ordnance in and of itself does not automatically have a blast. Hellstrike missiles are ordnance (no blast). All ordnance does is roll best of 2d6 for armour penetration and (usually) restrict other weapons being fired.

Ordnance Barrage is always LARGE BLAST.
