Bearing in mind all that he brings to the table (Terminator troops to be precise), can anybody suggest their preferes weapon selection for maximum table top effectiveness?

I intend to use him attatched to a squad but noth sure whether to use him for cc or shooty.

Any comments or advice would be great...

Please avoid any "Drop him from your list comments" as I am into terminators as troops in a big way, ha!

Well, I've magnetized mine... I use either the LC or the TH/SS option, at least since the FAQ update... TH/SS in general, though it is VERY effective rolling him (with LC) and a DW squad loaded out with LC and TH/SS out of a LRC... But overall, I like the 3++ save more than the extra attack since he is the one Marine CPT not issued an Iron Halo :-) Just my opinion though, YMMV

I like the idea of magnetising, did you have to paint three pairs of shoulder pads etc or did you just magnetise from the wrists?

I'd suggest TH/SS you can't go wrong giving him a 3+ invul seeing as normally all he's getting is a 5+. It really ups his survivability.

There aren't going to be any cries of "drop him from the list" post-FAQ.

And speaking of FAQ, I would equip him with a thunder hammer and storm shield, now that his chapter has finally found the on-switch.

I know the siren song of initiative 5... don't fall for it. He is T4, so easily insta-killable, you want to discourage attacks heading in his direction. If he actually had an iron halo it might possibly be up for discussion. But as it stands, if you dont buy the shield, you only get the 5++. Which means he is likely to die before you'd like.

Previously I always gave Bel the lightning claws to take advantage of I5. The bump from 5++ to 4++ from the shield just wasnt enough of a bump in survivability to warrant the loss of I5 strikes and considering everyone else had the same wasnt a deterrence against swing power fists at him.

With the FAQ I give him a shield. The bump to 3++ still isnt really a deterrence against swinging at him as every squad will still have someone with a storm shield there to take the hit. The main benefit is that he gets better at his primary role. Bullet catcher. With the 3++ you can slough off more plasma hits and other S<8 AP2 hits on him saving terminators in the process.

3 sets of arms, etc... But I'm doing that for a LOT of terminators in setting up a Deathwing army, so traded/bought a lot of the pieces over the last year...

On the I5, it's great against other Marines, IG, etc... I just am seeing a lot of DE/Eldar locally, and the ones not, lots of Plasma (and power weapons) like you mentioned... He CAN take a few Plasma hits, and mine might even survive a bit...

As others have said, if he hadnt forgot his Halo at home then LCs might have been a viable option, as it is now TH&SS all the way

TH and SS looks like the favourite option...

I think I'll use that on the battlefield and model with magnets for the practise.

Thanks to everyone for the input!
