Thougth I'd give a go at doing my EC all in white and giving him a dirty rugged look. I'm still touching him up so I consider him a WIP. The tabard still needs something but I dont want to ruin it. I also want to gloss over the gems and eyes.

I like it! It does need a little cleaning up, but that's a very striking figure. The only thing I'd change is the rim around the base - that hunter green really doesn't look too nice. Try using Graveyard Earth or Scorched Brown.

its closer to catachan green but all the rest of my BTs have it too, I'll play with it alittle more. I don't want to clean him up too much since i want him to look like he works for a living but that's whats great about taking pics, it always brings out the things you didn't see before and can fix. I know the grime around the bolts can use some tocuhups. Time to slap on the 7x magnifying headset

Fantastic look. As a Black Templar player it's nice to see new ideas concerning the look of 'em.

But can i make 1 suggestion, if you want to go for the 'dirty' look, maybe make a slight addition in the colour. Maybe a TINY bit of brown so it looks more like general wear.
I'm still a paint newbie though so it's just my small opinion.

Touch up the base a little and a clean up here or there, but all in all this guy looks pretty awesome.

i'm not digging the silver laurels, i think they should either be gold to tie in with the shoulder trim, or green to add a real focus point.

i would also add a little more detail to the blade, it looks a little plain to me. maybe try adding some very thin grey-blue streaks to look like it's shining.

on a more positive note, the white looks amazing, and so do the eye lenses, I love the fact that they genuinely look like a lense made from glass, but you are right, a thin gloss layer would make them perfect

Thanks for the tips. I agree about the base, it was lacking and I wasnt fully happy with the paint job either so I decided to do another strip and repaint. I think i still want to do him in white but now I'll use my airbrush to get a smooth finish. I also agree with the sword, It just wasn't coming out right, I think the paint was too thick so it was filling in all the details of the inscriptions. I did the same thing to my Helbrect model the paint was super thick and i stripped and ab'ed it. I'll post the new paint job when done. Heres a before and after of the Helbrecht strip and repaint:

Keep up the good work! Do you have the rest of the army in white? or Just the EC to make him standout?

Looks awesome the colour really brings out how great this model looks, I've never noticed how bad ass the EC looks before.

IF you don't mind me asking was that a finecast EC and if so how was the quality?
I'll looking to get one but last time I saw some in store the first one off the shelves chest detail was ruined and the other two had their backs to me so I didn't want to risk it.

Woah...Helbrecht looks awesome. That sword has a real glowing feel to it. The OSL is well done too.

As for the EC...I have to agree about the silver laurels, either gold or green. The white is definently too clean all over not just one spot. Ok the gauntlet holding the Black Sword may be a touch much. If you could hit a middle ground inbetween the two.

He's the only one in white to make him really stand out like " Hey lets go see what that white armored guy is all about... oh crap!"

He's metal. I don't own any finecasts at all yet. Actually I have 3 metal ECs so why i keep stripping and painting the same one over and over is beyond me ( this will be the third time)

Thanks about the OSL. I'm not sure how i did it but the sword really does look like its glowing in every pic I take. Must have been a lucky mix of blues and whites. The osl wasn't that hard, just turned the airbrush pressure really low and crossed my fingers(love my .2 velocity raptor airbrush).
As for the EC, my plan is to prime in dark grey ( panzer grey), add some liquid mask for some chipping effects then build up color modulation up to white. I'm expecting some Liquid Gold paint in the mail soon so I'll use that for the details and the laurel. i'm considiring using some Scibor SF shoulders i think the bigger size might make him more intimidating.
