Subject: Space Wolves 2nd Wave? Any things you'd like to see?

So guys, i thought this would be the best place to ask about the Space Wolves 2nd wave!
So with all your collective knowledge is there any information on the SW 2nd wave, or has it fallen from the face of the planet?
Also what would you like to see from the new wave? Personally i'd like some Character recasts and especially thunderwolf cav models!

Ahhhhh my favourite subject. I am quite happy to do some blatant wishilisting.
First and foremost the real difference between the SW's and other Chapters is their appearance and Thunder Wolf Cavalry.
With this in mind and the fact the DE & BA got 6/5 plastic kits respectively. I don't think another couple of plastic kits for a SW's second wave would be to out of order
I would like to see the 2 kits below produced.
1. A 3 pack plastic TWC kit with compatable new parts from the hip up with the existing PA SW squad. Could include some decent SS, extended WC's, long shafted TH and double headed axe and extended chainswords.
2. A 6 pack plastic HQ kit to include enough components to build all key HQ pieces in PA & TDA + 2 Fenrisian wolves. Could include bits to make your own Logan, Ragnar, Njal & Ulrik. Would be pure gold in my book and I would happily shell out circa £40 for it. Could also include a couple of stylised SW jump packs.
If my wishlisting could extend to 2 further kits (nice to haves). They would be.
3. Plastic Iron Priest kit with a couple of Servitors & a couple of Cyberwolves. Bits from the hip up would allow a TW mount from the kit above.
4. Plastic SW scouts pack. You know! Ones that actually look like the pictures in the codex.
Yeah I know I have two hopes but let me indulge myself. The reason I like plastic is it just allows for a lot more conversion options and after all individuality is key in SW fluff. The more bits the better.
With Prospero Burns, IA 11 & Battle of the Fang all being released this year. It would be an ideal time for GW to catch a SW second wind.

Point taken but I don't think it would effect SW players the same way. The more different torso's, heads, legs and weapons the better. It would just allow players to create even more individuality which is what the SW's are all about.

I can't think of any gaps in the range aside from Thunderwolves. A dedicated Fenrisian Wolf model or two would be nice, since the existing plastic wolves really show their age. We don't need a sixth plastic Imperial Dreadnought though.

I don't think i'd want to see a new Dreadnought model, i'm really chuffed with the Forgeworld ven dread
But yeah definately characters, i'd like to see a new Ragnar pose and thunderwolves are a must have.
Iron priests would be nice and possibly an effing ML sprue?

Agreed a Dreadnought is not required or any other vehicle for that matter. With the arrival of the Furioso and its blood talons and a couple of the shin guards. A Bjorn conversion is a lot easier.
The key USP to the SW's is TWC and their individuality as Space Marines/Warriors. This is mainly why my wishlist is on the character/model front. If they produced a HQ kit really their would be no need for the metal version as SW players could design their own versions od key characters so long as the kit had bits like Logans wrist mounted SB and a Double headed axe or Ragnars Krakentooth and maybe an equivalent shoulder pad and credible head. I think you see where I am going. In some ways a plastic HQ kit would be more befitting to the SW's than most other chapters as uniformity is just not a SW's thing.

I just hope that if we do get TW's this year they are not like the one Canis rides. His one is more of a monster husky than the vicious menacing ones pictured in the Codex. Give me those Sabre teeth and shaggy matted coats unlike the fully groomed Crufts Canis version. Same goes for the Fenrisian Wolves if they decide to produce them. No to fluffy Collie dog. Yes to moody prowling ones like those referred to in A Thousand Sons.

Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumours of possible Space Wolves product being released in conjunction with IA 11 wether it be in plastic or resin format.

I would like to see some cyber wolves, but more to the point i'd like a Sapce wolves upgrade kit like the dark angels just got, and i'm not talking about that random sprue you can get with some bits and 1 backpack on, this like a fully decent upgrade kit with some wolves on it maybe?
I haven't heard anything about it? I was talking to my local GW manager, a nice guy and he said he hasn't heard anything Automatically Appended Next Post: Chimaera wrote:Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumours of possible Space Wolves product being released in conjunction with IA 11 wether it be in plastic or resin format.
Actually, i take this back.
After abit of forum hunting and the like apparantly SW are going to see some FW stuff with the next IA release! Which, hopefully will be in the later part of this year as IA 10 is coming out this next month or so.

Well I remember hearing that Space Wolves weren't really getting much model support despite IA, but hey...
Brother SRM wrote:I can't think of any gaps in the range aside from Thunderwolves. A dedicated Fenrisian Wolf model or two would be nice, since the existing plastic wolves really show their age. We don't need a sixth plastic Imperial Dreadnought though.
QFT. There's no real gaps in the Space Wolves range except for the TWC.
There's not actual fenrisian wolf model, but there are several types of wolves available from GW.
There's 4 suitable dreadnought kits available; the Ven. Dread, normal Dread, Bjorn and FW models.
All the characters can be easily made in one form or another; despite the age of any such moulds, only Arjac doesn't have a dedicated model and he's perfectly well represented in the Wolf Guard boxset. I don't deny that the likes of Ragnar are showing their age, but still...
I really don't think there's enough to justify a second wave. Thunderwolves are the only models IMHO that can't be represented.
Dwagonman18 wrote:possibly an effing ML sprue?
Noooo! I'd rather something other than ML's were encouraged to be used by Long Fangs. It doesn't make sense for GW either as this way that can force you to buy a whole new box set to get the ML's.

I like how many people are just saying "sprues of missile launchers" like GW would actually make something specifically to cater to spam armies. Suck it up and convert some Guard missile launchers.
A metal Arjac Rockfist would be cool, as would a resculpted Ragnar Blackmane.

Yeah, I cant imagine GW doing anything like a ML sprue. As SRM said, convert of diversify, it shouldn't be too hard.
Personally, I wouldn't care for a metal Arjac, but I can imagine FW doing a very nice Ragnar model. Admittedly, theres several good conversions of Ragnar floating around and it's not that hard to make one out of the Wolf Pack box.
I wouldn't complain as to a Logan resculpt but I do think his current model is holding up very nicely.

In the nicest possible way I wouldn't agree that TWC are the only kit required to fill out the range. If they produced kits 1-4 from my post above I would definitely agree with that statement, although the scouts could be struck off.
While the two Space Wolves kits out there do a great job in providing options. They lack a lot of key components to do really credible conversions from just the two kits available although I will admit you can pick up bits from other plastic army kits for some items.
Yes I will admit there is conversion options and if your really talented with green stuff and have the peace & time to grow this talent. It is a great skill. Unfortunately if you don't have the peace and time available? It's not an option.
The problem with the two available kits is they have quite a lot of bling already and to make a SW model stand out from the rank & file it has to look quite special, hence a HQ kit would possibly afford this by providing some unique stand out bits. It would also allow for diversity i.e. not every Logan or Njal would need to look the same or make a great looking IC of your own. It would also allow a way of sneaking a few Fenrisian Wolves in.
I also think the Iron Priest kit would be good as it would allow for some Cyberwolves and Servitors + could be combined with the TW model to have a mounted IP.
Yeah I know I have two hopes but all you can do is live in hope
It would be good if FW did do new takes on Ragnar, Ulrik & produce an Arjac (the plastic kit doesn't have an anvil shield look a like etc). Without knowing who are the key SW characters in IA 11 it's hard to say if these two would be chosen. I would imagine they may feature a key SW character from the engagement.
Something FW could do is maybe produce some round SS for PA & TDA units. Not to sure why they produced the cruciform ones for the WG kit as round ones would probably have been more in keeping with SW fluff. Some SW themed Jump packs would also be cool.
I do like the idea of a new sprue if they weren't going to produce anymore kits apart from TWC. I do think it would be a shame if they did just release the one plastic TWC kit though when there are more opportunities available.
Now for my last most outrageous request - A Wolf Lair. Like the Fortress of Redemption but for Space Wolves LOL.
