Just to put this at the top before you read the rest, I didn't just sign up to try and get anyone to play this game or advertise for them-
I have a decent sized ork / csm army myself and used to lurk here all the time. That being said, love me some warhammer, but also loved
me some EverQuest, so if any of you are like-minded check this out:

This is a pretty awesome custom version of EverQuest that I enjoy playing quite a bit. The server is looking to stir up some new players so
figured I'd help out by posting on this forum to see if anyone things this might be their cup of tea. The game is free to play and runs off
of donations and sometimes out of the developers own pockets.

Shards of Dalaya

There have been several posts about the server in the past on other forums, which resulted in a good number of people joining up,
many of which are still playing today. If you're looking for a slightly harder, better balanced and more innovative monster slaying MMOG
that just happens to cost absolutely nothing to play, feel free to check it out at http://www.shardsofdalaya.com.
If you have any questions, post them in this thread, and I'll do my best to answer them.

Isn't this illegal?

I haven't read it, but typically, this would be laid out in the Terms of Use. If the Terms don't disallow it, it isn't illegal. It's common in MMO's since WoW but I don't know if anyone had these before. They probably did.

But then again, it's everquest. Who cares anymore

No, it falls under "legal". EULA's are not laws, and since the EQEmu community doesn't edit the program there isn't copyright stuff being broken either.
Otherwise Sony would sue the eqemulator community out of existance instead of them still steadily running for more than 7 years.

Once you agree to them EULA's are legally binding. It's not illegal in the sense that I don't think you can go to jail, but you can be sued for it. And lets face it. Big company you lose. EDIT: And undermining a company that relies on monthy fees for profit by offering the same service and product for free is copyright infringement.

But like I said. It's everquest. I doubt anyone who could sue cares anymore

They can sue due to lost revenue if it's pay to play.

I agree an EULA is a contract though, surprisingly few read them.

They have tried to sue and its all been thrown out of court. Either way, even if for some reason they do decide to try and take legal action it would be against the developers and not the players.

Anyways.. the game is great and ya'll should give it a look.

Let's see. New user and all three posts are about joining a pirated server for a game. I trust this.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
