Well, I just got my tax money back and was thinking about getting my self one of the Vallejo paints sets but not sure what one to do with. Can any one tell me a few pros and cons of the Vallejo model VS game colors line?

This is from a different forum:
As above, the Model Colors are thicker and need a good shaking and most recommend diluting with water or blending medium/extender. The Game Colors are copies of GW colors and can be used out of the bottle without thinning (I think they're too thin myself). I really don't like the Game Colors at all…on about half my bottles the coverage is poor and if you do add an extender the coverage gets worse, they're brush killers. Since you're already using them you may already know this…avoid the GC white at all costs!

The Model Colors are really good, and if you're concerned about the extra shaking just add a drop or two of Delta's Color Float to each new bottle. The Color Float will slightly dilute the MC and help decrease the shaking time per use.

I can also recommend the Reaper Master Series, which are waaaaay better than the GC and don't require the shaking of the MC.

You got your refund already? The IRS isn't accepting returns until Monday... I'd say go with Vallejo, their stuff is just plain awesome.

There isn't any real difference but I would recommend Vallejos air paint.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Some of the big accounting firms will give you the money right away, then take the actual tax return.

After doing a Google search and finding lots of info I think I will go with the model color set.

I personally don't notice any difference between the 2. Paint is paint. I thin down all my paints a little and go for it.

Really, unless you're a pro painter who does all the crazy blending etc then I don't think you will notice much either.

A good way to test paints is to buy a blue and red from each range. Test on 2 mini's (paint a cape or face).

They're better then Games Workshops range anyway IMO.

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.

Well... LOL I am a very luck man! My wife just gave me my Valentines Day gift early, and it was the Vallejo Model color paint set i have been talking about. That just made my decision very easy.

First its not a firm - Jackson Hewitt, HRB, Payday Advance etc are all incorporated (firm would imply there are partners). Next, its a huge rip off to do it that way as you're paying someone about 25-35% APR to give you a 2 week loan. Hopefully you don't take it to a check cashing store where they cash your check for 10-15% of the total balance of the check. Lord help you if you owe back taxes, child support, unpaid student loans, etc. as the IRS will keep your refund and you're on the hook to pay the principal back (your initial loan of the entire balance of your refund) and then 18% on top for defaulting on your initial loan. You can skip town other than the fact they have your social and other personal information.

My return was deposited by the IRS on the 1st of this month.

As above, both brands are good, merely different colors and slightly different properties.

You do still have to thin the Game Color paints. They're pretty much all I use, and they're comparable to GW paints in consistency, which is too thick to use straight. 1:1 with distilled water seems to be the way to go with them..
