How could I use Night gobbos as Forest gobbos? I mean, I know that their equipment is about the same, but how would the HATE DWARFS rule work?

First ignore the setting and background for your army ...

Only Night Goblins hate Dwarfs, but Dwarfs hate all greenskins, from the Big Black Orc to the Lowly Slave Gnoblar

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I'm not familiar with whether or not there is an actual difference between the units in the army book? (I.e., are night goblins different than forest goblins as a unit)

If there is a difference, you probably don't want to use forest goblins for anything other than night goblins, and state as much when you begin. The hardest thing to keep track of is when people have one thing counting as several other things... as long as you're consistent it is much easier for your opponent to remember.

As long as your forest goblins are correctly equipped, and their options are clearly mentioned, and their stat line is consistent, I think this would be fine.

This would mean:

You shouldn't have one unit of Forest Goblins count as Night Goblins and another count as Common Goblins,as the same models would represent two different units with different stats.

If the models are equipped with Spear and Shield only (no light armor), then the Night Goblin rules are used (as they don't have Light Armor either).

If you plan on taking Netters, then those are represented in the unit, even as Forest Goblins with nets.

If you plan on having "Counts As" fanatics, then you mention that to your opponent. People know to expect Night Goblin Fanatics, but not to expect Forest Goblin Fanatics. You don't have to tell him how many, but just that there is the possibility.

If you do that, I can't see how there would be any problem. Your models are correctly equipped for their rules in the game, and their legal options are displayed (or allowed, by the rules, to be hidden). It's no different from painting your night goblins yellow with blue robes. They are correct, but look slightly different.

I'm a bit confused. Are you saying you want to use forest goblin models, but use the rules for night goblins? If you're trying to represent a forest goblin force and you want a block of infantry, I'd think the rules for plain old surface goblins would be more representative of forest goblins.

That would seem correct, but the current rules, and the current models, for common Goblins specify that the goblins have Light Armor. Forest Goblins have a loincloth and some feathers. They clearly do not have light armor. The only goblins in the rules without armor are Night Goblins. Now if the new rules don't specify light armor for common gobbos......

Sure, there's no particular reason why Forest Goblins should hate Dwarves, but if you have unarmored models, then use the rules for unarmored models.

Not that using Common Goblin rules would be unbalancing, but they would definitely be more confusing to a new opponent, since they would have to be told (and remember) that the clearly unarmored guys have an armor save.

Ok, i dont see anything wrong with that, but to make the gobbos, you'll need quite a few spider riders / arachnaroks. I personally think it better to use them mounted (there are alot of (poisoned) attacks in a spider horde!).

I plan to have 1-2 units of gobbos, one with spears, the othe with bows.
The rest of my corewill be spider riders.

It seems like you will have alot of Converting to do if you actually want to have the "forest goblins" actually look like forest goblins.
