Hey all! I have an upcoming massive Apoc battle and I need something to put me over the top points and model wise. I'm currently at 6.5k of Daemons and CSM. I have no real 'featurable' models because I almost always play regular style games.

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions (keeping my armies in mind) of what model I could use that would be epic or cool to use in an apoc game. (doesn't need to be beardy or cheesy) I've looked at all the FW greater daemons and none of them look particularly good, and to boot most of their rules are awful. (Here's lookin at you An'ggrath) The Reaver Titan is ridiculously priced and I would never consider getting it. I was looking at some of the cool GW extra apoc sheets but I'm not confident in my ability to scratchbuild something that will look halfway decent.

I dunno I'd really just like something big and unique that will stand out on the table. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

What pricing are you looking at?

For standard GW stuff, a corrupted Baneblade would do. Just spikey it up and paint it in your Chaos Legions colours.

If you want to go more expensive, a Chaos Warhound would definitely stand out. Almost half the price of a Reaver too.

You don't like the Forgeworld Keeper of Secrets model? I'm really hoping to get one myself, but that's only because it would make sense with the rest of my army.

Do you have a specific deity that most of your units follow? Or one that they're at least relevant to? (For example: My CSM army is almost entirely women, and my lesser daemons are all Daemonette models. Thus, the Keeper of Secrets would fit in aesthetically even though I plan to have units that follow each of the Chaos Gods.)

My Daemons are all Khorne or Tzeentch. They have combined their powers to spite the Imperium. (So no Nurgle or Slaneesh) I'm not too keen on the Kos either, his model is veryyyy unappealing to me.

Well, a Warhound sits at $350cad.

There's other Forgeworld units you could look into. They're not as big, but they're certainly still impressive.

A Brass Scorpion? What about a flyer - the Hell Blade and Hell Talon are impressive kits.

Do you have Defilers? Have you thought about Slaughterfiends?

I love the thought of Berzerkers grabbing onto them and riding into battle that way. It just sounds awesome.

A Doomsday Device should be an easy enough conversion, and it has amazingly fun rules.

The FW Khorne Greater Daemon is AWSOME and his rules aren't too shabby

Personally, if they will let you play it, I would get one of these and 'chaosify' it: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/MALCADOR-INFERNUS.html rules here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/i/Infernus.pdf because a S7 AP3 18"+Template flamer is fun, and because if you take chemical ammunition upgrade for 10 points you get an 18"+Template, 2+ to wound, fire on the move poisoned cannon. Fit flamers all round, drive it into the middle of troops, melt as many as you can, then enjoy the apocalyptic explosion when it pops! Seems something chaos would enjoy

I already have a Brass Scorpion. He likes to die easily and explode. Slaughterfiends look cool but I think I've done enough defiler converting.

I was considering Hell Talons (as I have no AA and I will be facing a lot of fliers) but they are mega expensive for what you get model wise.

I'd love to do a Doomsday Device but I would not know where to start to convert (lol would probably be made out of cardboard). It also has to be placed in your deployment zone right? That's not good if it goes boom. I love the fluff behind it nonetheless.

Looking back at my list I realized that I am in desperate need of some AA. Does anyone have any suggestions on which Daemons/CSM units work well at AA? I have not found basically any AA options other than Hell Talons (wow $$). I guess combis on rhinos would work because they're pintle mounted but I only have 4 rhinos and they would only be able to shoot once.

Use the standard SM rules in IA for AA Whirlwinds, and then make the Whirlwind models look Chaos-y. Or do the same for Hydras.

Go titan crazy

I would scratchbuild a gigantic whirlwind of blood with all blades and chopped off limbs and lightning coming out of it, and call it a Chaos Titan.

You'll need chicken wire to make an armature, a load of cotton wool, some bits, and a few cans of hairspray and black and red paint.

So I got the Ultraforge Greater Wardeamon but I still have 405 points left to fill. The only stipulation is that those 405pts have to be made up of models costing 200pts or more. (So realistically 2 models max or one really big one)

Any suggestions?

If I recall correctly, a baneblade is 500points? Get one of those and chaosify it. They're remarkably versatile, and that big gun makes a mess.
