If a nid player has an mc with an infantry bodyguard does the unit count as infantry? And what happens at 50%

Since you must be talking about a Hive Tyrant + Tyrant Guard, it is a mixture of Infantry and MC. The Hive Tyrant fires/assaults like an MC, but the Tyrant Guard can confer a cover save if they're in cover and the MC is not. And since the Tyrant is with a unit, he does not roll 3D6 for moving through difficult terrain.

And I'm not sure what you mean by what happens if they're at 50%. If you mean reduced to 50% by shooting, then nothing. The Hive Tyrant (and any unit within 12" thanks to Synapse) is Fearless. I'm not sure what you mean otherwise.

Hello there,

We still need an answer to this question that my friend posed, I will try to explain it again.

When you buy a hive tyrant with 3 tyrant guard you are left with a unit which is 25% Monstrous Creature and 75% Infantry.

How does this unit behave? Like Infantry? For example a monstrous creature can claim cover only if it is 50% obscured, an infantry unit can claim cover from another unit inbetween them and the firer, 50% obscured or not.

Can the Tyrant claim a cover save for being part of an infantry unit or do you treat the infantry and the monster seperately for the purposes of saves?

Now what happens if two Tyrant guard are killed and you are left with a unit that is 50% monstrous and 50% Infantry. Now how does the unit behave?

please help

Puma *did* answer that exact question.

The infantry *models* are in cover if at all obscured.
The MC *model* is in cover if 50% physically obscured.

If 50% of the *unit* is in cover, then the whole unit gets a cover save.

Exactly as above.

You work out if each model is in cover, using its own rules to determine this. You then determine if the unit is 50% or more in cover, as UNITS receiev cover saves and not models.

Also, if you search this comes up quite frequently, using this exact example.
