A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Strengths and weaknesses in the game? Or in the fluff?

"How many more worlds do we sacrifice? How many more millions or billions do we betray before we turn and fight?" - attributed to Captain Leoten Semper of Battlefleet Gothic - Gothic War, the evacuation of Belatis.

If commanding a Titan is a measure of true power, then commanding a warship is like having one foot on the Golden Throne - Navy saying.

If you're talking about Apoc specifically here's my opinion

Space Marines:

Strengths:
Lot of Uber units
Titans
Super Mechanized
Tons of TH SS Termies

Weaknesses:
Power armour is like paper in Apoc
Limited Mobility
Most special abilities like DSing, Psychic powers and what not are usually severely hindered in Apoc.

Necrons:

Strengths:
WBB
They have some pretty OP stratagems
Rock Hard HQs

Weaknesses:
All basic units get owned with extreme ease
Very low mobility
Does not scale well at higher point levels

There is no simple answer to such a complex question.

Space Marines really have no weaknesses, as they are considered a balanced force. Conversly, they have no "talent" either, other than being rather adaptable and customizable.

Necrons are a Gun-line style army. Their weapons have decent power and their troopers can weather alot of firepower before going down. They, however, are lacking in the Close Combat department, with very low initiative for each of the troop tiers and only having two rather dedicated CC units.

Any Superheavy unit generally only has their cost as a drawback. They're incredibly hard to take down, packs a ridiculous amount of weapons into one model, can fire at multiple targets, etc... Their only weakness is massed anti-tank fire, so the likes of Fire Dragons, Special Weapons squads outfitted with many, many melta guns, and Termicide units with Combi-Meltas are some of the best bet for taking care of them.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I recommend you go here to read up a bit. It has a nice description of all the factions, with a general discussion about strenths and weaknesses.

As for your super units...

Warlord Titan
Strengths: Ridiculous number of shields and stucture points. Lots of very powerful guns.

Weaknesses: No model exists for it, so you'll have to make it yourself, and it's expensive. For its points cost I could likely put together a force that would take it down. Read up on dakka's own Titan Tactica for more information.

Baneblade
Strengths: Jack of all trades super heavy. It can do anything decently, and it's thick skinned. It also does not suffer from the 'one huge gun' syndrom of other Imperial superheavies.

Weaknesses: Expensive again, but at least there's a plastic kit for it. Once again, with the points it costs I could come up with a tank hunter force that could bring it down. Read dakka's Super Heavy Tactica for more information.

Thunderhawk
Strengths: Flyer so fast as all hell, and can pcak a heavy punch, not to mention carry a ton of Marines and other equipment.

Weaknesses: THink skinned compared to other superheavies, and lots of AA fire will bring it down sooner or later

TO be honest, there's not really a whole lot to be said for the factions. The strength and weaknessed of each army are so deep it'd take ages to spell them out.
