Subject: Slowdown on DoW 1 but Above Specs

I've been behind on my computer hardware for a while, but got a pile of slightly newer components recently from a friends parents and so finally had the requirements for DoW 1 - but I still get quite noticable slowdown when lots of units are on the screen, especially when playing Necrons. I have:
Intel Celeron 3ghz
2gb DDR2 ram
500mb G-Force 8
Is it normal for the game to slowdown with this kind of spec, even when the settings are put low?

Your pc should handle the game just fine. Heck I ran it on a lesser system and it really only slowed down in huge multiplayer games. Go through and make sure all your drivers are up to date as that can kill a system. Your processor could use an upgrade too, especially since DOW uses a TON of CPU power.
Honestly, it is very difficult to run a game of that magnitude without experiencing some kind of frame rate drop. I bet my new quad-core would still slow down some in a good sized multiplayer game, especially since half of us play greenskins.

No I wouldnt say his processor is that bad. I run it on mine, and its a 2.2 and I almost never have problems, except on hugeass games as mentioned. Sometimes when I send a big ol horde of Orks into a base it gets a little laggy, but not that bad

I used to run it on a 2.6Ghz Athlon 64bit
160Gb Hdd
a radeon x800 (512MGb)
and 1024MGb of DDR.
I wasnt on max settings, but I wasnt on minimum either.

I wonder what's wrong with mine then? I have the latest updates for the graphics card and direct x and the harddrive is massive (and presumably fast).
I don't have the full driver set for my motherboard though, could that be at fault? As far as I know it's just the SMBus and onboard ethernet that don't have drivers.

I think I've tracked this down to insufficient power! I've ordered a 650w to replace the tiddly 300w that I've currently got.
