If you were to take Ogryn and attach a lord commissar to it, would you shoot the bone 'ead if summary execution were to come into effect? also would it just count as a single wound or does it instant kill the ogyrn?

The rules are pretty clear on both counts:

He kills the model with the highest Ld in the unit and the model is removed regardless of how many wounds it has remaining. And that's right in the rules text if you read it.

Right.

Plus, while it may be sad to see a lord commissar ace a 40 point model in a single hit, it's better than having the entire 250 points of them run off the board.

He didnt have that rule in previous codex either.

Oh I come from a land, from a faraway space

Where the war is immense
And the fights are intense
It's barbaric, but hey, it's home

Very true. In fact, it specifically stated that he didn't have it. Interestingly enough, it also went on to say that he would perform an It's For your Own Good! against a perils of the warp psyker.

However, in the current edition, he has neither.

Of course Yarrick has no need for summary execution since he and his squad are fearless and have been for as long as I can remember. Automatically passing morale tests means you'll never fail a morale test and catch an execution.

As far as the original question is concerned, what reason is there to suspect that the Lord Commissar wouldn't execute the bonehead? Then when the execution is performed the last paragraph of the summary execution rule clearly specifies that the model is removed from play regardless of wounds.

Also, remember, it's a" summary execution", not a "single shot to the model". The commissar will shoot the victim... I mean, traitor... as many times as it takes for him to be gunned down. The important thing is that the traitor dies, not how many wounds it takes to accomplish this job.

For example, in my fluff, my commissars have had to take creative measures to fulfill a summary execution...

That night, I poisoned each of those who I was unable to kill with my pistol, forcing them to vomit themselves to death. Anthrax letters to their next of kin are pending the arrival of the next mail ship from the warp.

I was prepared to continue with my headlong charge forward into anywhere, but Daxos, pathetic coward that he is, called off the attack. He ordered the men to return to their positions on the road while he went back to HQ to ask for more intelligence and further orders. I emptied my bolt pistol in his general direction in hopes of a summary execution, but the early morning sun temporarily blinded me.

Bereft of ammunition, I was forced to pistol-whip any nearby guardsman who would dare obey the order to retreat. After inflicting many blunt-force casualties, my arm eventually wore out, and I was forced to return to my original position, in the least to reload and go look for Daxos.

It was at this point that the true cause for the soldiers' failure was made apparent - a lack of morale. Because the priests had failed to inspire their men, I turned and pumped my bolt pistol into the nearest priest's back. I unloaded my clip, but several shots bounced off the rosarius field. Only a single hit managed to wound the filthy heretic. My ammunition spent, I was forced to strangle him to death with my bare hands to finish the summary execution.

In other words, Martin74 is full of Grox-droppings...I checked all my older IG codexs...straight back to 2nd. Yarrick never had the Summary exicution rule.

Hey, Martin74, ...go to the flea market and grab some second hand honour...since thats all you can afford. Or some reading glasses. One or the other.

Peace.

I'm sure a Mod will catch this, but I'll think it might be a good idea to check out the tenets of YMDC.

I know you're probably just kidding around, but while YMDC does occasionally get heated, flaming isn't really welcome here.

I see that has already been zapped. As DogofWar noted, this sort of posting is not appropriate. So, respectfully, cut the crap.
