Alright, ladies and gents, so with my Lamenters officially now over 60 models, I thought it was appropriate to give them a little airborne reinforcement. While I'm waiting on a pair of Land Speeder Typhoon kits to arrive, I'm busying myself with the new Storm Raven.

Now, I like the kit, but I wasn't too big a fan of the turret, the weird little spoiler on the back, or the ridiculously large air duct. That, and the lack of a cool looking Dreadnought carrier hoist in the back. So, like any hobbyist, I improvised.

I took the base of the servitor turret, the lascannons and covers, a Cadian Vox Caster(Cut down), and some plasticard to make a new turret with a much more sleek profile. Its as simple as laying the lascannons down onto a cut down turret bottom, throwing the cut down Vox in between, and overlaying the front gap with plasticard. Following that, I cut down the air duct by about 50% with a the humble Hobby Saw, and them into place.

Now, as we move to the back of the Storm Raven, I decided to copy an idea I saw photoshopped onto the Storm Raven when it was first announced. I wanted it to be more in line with a Landspeeder type of spoiler, while still looking like a big 'ole flier. To remedy the situation, I took some plasticard, cut out a pair of squares, and then cut them diagonally across and attached them for a much more sturdy appearance in the back.

Lastly, we have the Dreadnought Carrier System (DCS). To make the DCS, I took a pair of extra mid-toe joints leftover from my pair of Warhounds and slapped them into place along the weak little tow cable system to beef out the back of the Storm Raven, in addition to making it look like it can actually carry a Dreadnought without it falling off mid-flight. I was initially going to do the exact same system with a pair of cut down Sentinel legs, but the extra Titan pieces gave me an excuse to save money.

Current progress. She be PIP at the moment!

Very nice! Your new turret looks a lot better than the stock one, and I really like the look of the Dreadnought Carrier System.

Nice, the turret looks great. I would have swapped the places of the two LCs though.

Hah, thanks man!

Thanks bro. I also considered the turret idea too, but it made it look a little too wide for my liking.

I've been wanting to see a Lamenters Storm Raven since I heard about them.
This is the first one I've seen
It needs the black and white checkers on the wings

Also lovin those conversions.

For the Emperor and Sanguinius!

Lol, that's what that tape is there for on the wings and turret. It's leaving a perfectly white area for my checker patterns.

The turret looks fine except I don't like the barrel ends being sideways. i would cut and rotate them 90 degrees...

Just airbrush a watered down Sunburst Yellow, and then wash it with a watered down Ogryn Flesh, followed by hand highlights of Sunburst Yellow with a little Skull White, increasing the amount of a skull white little by little with each highlight.

Also, Checker patterns are done!

I love the modifications you did. It makes it look less like a chibified Thunderhawk and an actual gunship. The painting is also very crisp and clean. Awesome job!

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I would do something different with the canopy - I would have kept it transparent or maybe painted it blue instead of black. Right now it just looks the same as the black checkers on it.

Canopy aside though, this Stormraven looks totally badass. Clean checks and yellow are two hard things to pull off, and you managed to succeed in both. You also made lemonade with that model and made it look much, much better than the stock kit. Great work overall.

Very nice, I would love to see a photo with a Dread hanging off the back (if you can).
I know you said you have finished, but the engines still look too shiny when compared to the rest of the model. (IMO)

I'm still waiting for my local GW to restock so I can get one.
All the little kids beet me to them on release day and they don't even play BA or GK.
