Been Around the Block

So I've been thinking of starting a second army. Orks that is. I haven't really played them since 2nd edition and I know things have changed. What are some unit must haves and recommendations so I can start building a backbone. I want this to be more of a competitive list rather than a goofball play just to be playing list. Thanks

What points value?
That can help. Basically, in my opinion, if you want competitive, you go with Nob Bikers, Battlewagon spam, maybe Kan Wall.
But points would help. As would a basic idea of what you would prefer. If you don't think you could manage with a very small army, like Nob Bikers, maybe go Kan Wall. If your current army is all Mech, you might want to stay away from Battlewagon spam.

Sorry. I'd say no more than 2000 points. I def don't want to do a bunch of mech spam because thats what my other army is but I do want something really strong, and competitive. I'm not exactly sure what a kan wall is but it sounds cool. Any more help or thoughts would be sweet.

Kan wall.
For a start 9 Killa Kans. I would personally arm them all with Rokkits, but there may be better options.
at least 3 squads of 30 Boyz (with Nob and PK/BP)
Probably 2 Big Meks with KFF
2/3 squads of Lootas.
Maybe then you can bring in personal preferences. Warbuggies, Deffkoptas, Grots, Kommandoes maybe.

Hello and welcome to the Waaagh First thing you need to know is that orks need to be themed. So pick you playing style and how you want to win games and start building. The themes/list that I consider to be the most competitive are: 1)Kan Wall 2)Battlewagon spam 3)Horde 4)Nob bikers (though they can't be pure as this doesn't work anymore) If you intend to play tournaments etc this should also play a role in you decission as a horde list can be almost unplayable due to time restraints and a Kan Wall will also take practice in order to play fast enough.
