Sure there are personal favorites and army bias but that dosen't mean that one army can't have cooler models then any other. So what do you guys think? lets see if there is a army that stands out.

I made it into a poll for ease of counting, I think I got every army?

I think that the personal favourites and army bias will mean that 90% of people will say their own army. That is one of the main reasons people pick their army to begin with.

Fo myself, I would say the Guard. Cadians are the best looking troopers, and the vehicles look far better than other armies, rugged and functional.

There is also a nice skin/amour ratio in the cadian range. Not too little like marines, yet not to much like orks.

And there is nothing wrong with that if a number of people choose the same army (regardless of if it's their favorite army or not) then it's clear that most people think that army would have the coolest models ya know?

Tyranids, because each model has its own way of invoking an air of threat around it. You have big monsters with big spikes, guns and teeth; and you have little guys who are bristling with claws and blades.

For me personally, Necrons. Yes it is my favorate army, but thats why I built the army. They just ooz grim dark imo.

I am quite a fan of the Tau models, I find them so different from the 'grimdark' races that I enjoy looking at them although I wouldn't wish to build another army with them! :-)

I like the Space Wolves models quite a bit. They have a lot of character when compared to normal marines. I have always found other chapters rather bland in the fact that they look the same besides the different paintjob. Space Wolves have all the teeth, fur, and ruins which makes them pretty cool looking.

I am starting to like Blood Angels for the same reason, though it is because of models like the terminators from the Space Hulk game. For the same reasons as the other two, I like Chaos Marines as well.

I think that Tau have the most futuristic-looking models, but really all the armies have models that perfectly suit them. Pieced-together junk for Orks, large impressive tanks with small infantry for IG and a dark presence for the Necrons.

Chaos Daemons with some cross over with CSM. This is x2 if you are counting FW models.

This is possibly the most subjective topic I've ever seen on this board. You really can't boil it down to anything but personal favorites.

Tau! But that's my own opinion, i just love the battlesuits, I'd love to have an army of just them.
If you want to buy an army based on the coolest models, i suggest you look at the games workshop site an d have a look through all the armies. You could also research the history of the armies and their general information. I'd also suggest looking in the gallery and looking at other peoples models and decieded which you like best. It's all down to your opinion of the models to when it comes to buying.

I think that currently, the "best" model range for an army..

hmm, first to come to mind is the NEW releases of Dark Eldar.. them are some beautiful sculpts that they just came out with

after that, its quite close between tyranids and guard... i personally dont like many of the infantry models available directly from GW, but their vehicles just ooze pragmatic, no nonsense "Git-R-Dun!" type of looks.

The tyranids i like for much of the same reasons as Mr Nobody.

Will say Eldar for now, i love the tanks, Wraithlords are probably my favourite GW figure full stop. I really like the Farseer's and Warlocks as well. And the Aspect Warriors are all fairly nice. And Harelquins are awesome.

@Brother SRM: Again, if more people say Orks have the coolest models over all then those who say any other army the fact that it's personal opinion is irrelevant because a greater number of people think Orks have the coolest models. Especially since it's personal opinion that determines if something is "cool" or not, the important thing in this thread is how many people support one army over another.

I must say Eldars. Even though i'm a Tyranid player, the Eldars are, by far, my favorite-looking army in the 40k universe.

I'm not really sure, that i think ALL their models are über-awesome too look at. But mostly they come off as most majestic and enigmatic.
- Especially their Farseer range speaks to me. And with the right color scheme to them, they can come off as utmost eye-candy!

My only with is that they would begin making some unmasked Eldars, that's actually also decent-looking (like the newly Dark Eldar Wych heads!)

Yeah I agree it is totally subjective. One can cite their reasons for why they think a model is cool, but it is entirely subjective. More people support blonde as their favorite haircolour but that doesn't mean redheads are not cooler.

If more people vote for one army then another that means that more people think that army has the coolest models over any other. Hence why companies take surveys of their product to see which is most popular, the subjective nature of the topic is the whole point considering that nothing can ever absolutly determine what is THE coolest of anything. Therefore it is left up to what the majority of a group choose as the coolest.

I'd dress like one of them... Spikes, leather, whips, and chains! Or if you're classy get yourself a nice cape and roll like an Archon! Sleek looking evil is the best kinda evil!

Also everything thing Slaanesh related (pink, black, and pastel!) and Necrons are tied for second place.

I chose daemons. Why? Two words: Soul Grinder. One of the best models GW has put out yet. Monoliths, Carnifexes, and the Terminator Chaplain get honorable mentions, but most armies have awesome models, so I kind of went with my favorite of each one: Soul Grinder wins by a landslide. I own three of the rotten jerks, and I love 'em.

Agree'd, only qualm I have is that the Wraiths aren't as fluid as I've always wanted them to be.

Necrons for me. I love undead. I like sci-fi, I love the idea of flying buildings as tanks, even if they are too damn slow

One of the main reasons i love Necrons is the sheer level of detail. Look at the underside of a destroyer or monolith sometime (you rarely get to see it in game) and see the detail there. I'm going to use a monolith bottom section as a teleporter pad scenery piece someday


Also the old metal (probably soon to be replaced) GK terminators. Gorgeous models. I never painted mine as I couldn't force myself to use my poor painting skills on such nice models

No love for Witch Hunters eh? The Seraphim are amazing, so is the Immo, the Exo, and all of the pincushions from the Ecclesiarchy. The Inquisitor Lord and retinue look really nice painted up well, even if I rarely find a use for them.

Currently it's Tau in the lead followed my Deldar and Eldar.

I'm the Ork vote, alot of GW models are interchangable within each faction (Space Marines, Tyranids etc.) But I think that the Orks exemplify this the best I mean I really can't think of any Ork model that looks bad now that the Deff Dread and Killa kans have been re-done and just about every Ork kit blends well with eachother. Plus being Orks we have a fluff excuse to take the best models from every other army as looted stuff

Realistically it's Space Wolves for me but if i could have an ideal army it would be Dark Eldar. The only reaso i don't collect Dark Eldar is because i could never do the models justice.

The Imperial Guard has the Death Korps of Krieg. Nothing more need be said.

a thousand times CSM. Their codex may only be so-so, but their models are excellent.

An Ork heavy support choice...



and a CSM heavy support choice...



Whatever units you have, CSM have them cooler. There are some nice models in all codecies, but it's hard to find an ugly CSM model.

Guard. All the forgeworld regiments blow all the other competition out of the water.
