I have managed to acquire a White Scars army in return for some Physics tutoring. I know they're a very mobile force, and they seemed to be popular a long time ago, but I've heard very little about them since coming back to wargaming.

Do people still play White Scars? What do people think of them? Have I been landed with a Lemon??

Well, a Space Marine captain on a bike (Or the White Scars special character) make bikers troops, so you've got a legal army right there. Bikers are highly mobile, which is a big plus in this edition. I wouldn't say you have a lemon of an army at all. It's just a bit of a finesse army, so you might lose a lot at first until you get the hang of it.

They're pretty cool. I think a lot of people stay away from them simply because of the painting aspect of them.

I think they are amazing.
Bikes can be very hard to kill for some armies. And can put out a decent amount of damage themselves.
When you use Khan, you can then do silly things like outflank Terminators. Which could really be game winning.
If painted well (Think just plain white, doesn't really work, needs something extra imho) they look really nice as well.
Think you've got a great deal really

Unless you're Doom Rider, an Ork, or a very ironic Slaaneshi marine, I find the whole idea of Space Marines on bikes to be very silly.

Also being based on Mongols doesn't help either.

Cool scheme though

Edit: Forgot Ravenwing, they can pull off bikes well.

I've never come across an actual 'white scars' army, but I run a successor chapter that uses ravenwing rules and they are awesome, basically ride circles around people and pull their whole army apart with melta guns. so much fun.

I havn't actually got it yet, but it's a mixture of bikes, attack bikes, Landspeeders, some guys on jetpacks, some Tac marines and a couple of Rhinos (I think..could be Razorbacks..). There is also a pair of Whirlwinds, but they are unpainted and I can't remember if he wants to keep them..

yeah mainly althought he extra bits means you can just have more fun with the customization also the art on them is great with the ability to have ravens as pets etc just facinates me for playabiity tho normal marines seem to make stronger bike armies

Kor'ossaro Khan is pretty awesome for a Bike Captain, and Moodrakken helps alot to make him mobile. His forces also outflank, which can be very devastating with biker forces.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
