So if a unit assaults a vehicle and they wreck it, would they be able to consolidate? my confusion comes from them having never been locked in close combat to begin with. This could be interpreted as "They are not locked in close combat thus satisfying the condition" or as "They were never locked in close combat thus they are not 'no longer' locked." My guess is yes they can, but I would like to make sure I'm playing this one right.

no consolidation moves.
Other questions: A Dark Eldar unit already with a pain token with an IC attached charges a squad of Assault marines with another IC half in cover, the Dark Eldar IC goes first and kills the opposing IC, thus gaining a pain token, does the rest of his unit benefit from Furious Charge? my ruling was no they do not
I don't see why they wouldn't benefit. According to the Blood Angels
FAQ (different army, I know) you check for Furious Charge when it comes time to swing. If, when their turn to swing comes, they have
FC, and they've charged that turn, they get the benefits.
They kill half the squad and the assault marine player removes the guys in cover, the Marine player looses combat and falls back using jump packs, the remaining marines are not in Difficult Terrain so they do not need to make a Dangerous terrain test do they?
Only models that are actually in the
DT (or land in
DT) need to take tests in that situation. If no models remain in the
DT, then no models have to take tests.

While "no" is the correct answer, it has nothing to do with
WS. No where in the rules does it say that you can only be locked in combat with models with a
WS, it's just that we haven't had any models without a
WS that you CAN lock in combat.
The only reference to
WS and assaulting non-walker vehicles is about rolling to hit. The reason you are not locked in with a vehicle is because the rules specifically say you are not locked in combat.
Hypothetically, if a non-vehicle model were released which had no
WS, it could be locked in combat, unless a special rule said otherwise.
