So I had a friend lend me the IA v.8 book that includes the Ork army list for the Dread Mob. I never play in tournaments and I usually just play the people I know locally. I really doubt any of my friends would care if I played this list and probably no others at our local gaming store would either (but it might be a possibility).

With that in mind, does anyone have any experience with this list? Is it fun, over-powered, etc.? I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money or time on a list that was broken and no fun to play against but the theme of the list seems fun to me.

Anyone have an opinion or advice?

Thanks,
Flaim

It's a fun list, but unless if you already have a lot of dreadnoughts/killa kanz, it's really not that great of an army list seeing that nearly all non-dread/kan/mega-dread unit has a good chance of blowing itself up.

You can also get some pretty hilarious combinations in this list, namely the 11 shokk attack guns in ~1000-1500 points depending on what support you take.

Overall, on the tabletop it's actually weaker then the a kan/dread list you can take in the Ork codex due to the weaker core units (i.e. the gretchins will set themselves on fire with molotov cocktails in excitement/confusion whenever they assault or are assaulted) Things like the mega dread can be taken in a regular ork army if everyone is cool about it.
(however the mega dread is pretty darned bad, it's comparable to an ironclad dreadnought)

Most of the best and/or coolest bits (like grot tanks, mega-dreads and big trakks) can be taken in a codex list.

The unique bits are:Lifta-dropa wagons, Warkoptas, Meyboy Junkas, Cybork Slasha mob and Pain Boss. All cool but nothing especially good.

It's hurt badly by it's troop choices. Grots now set themselves on fire all the time, boyz can't have a klaw and the dreads aren't scoring. The lack of battlewagons also hurts it.

That said, it's a very fluffy list and there's lots of fun stuff in it. I wouldn't worry about it being overpowered, quite the opposite. For example, the vehicle (junka) mounted shok attack gun - that is pretty awesome but it's a 100 point upgrade!

You can only get five - two Big Meks and three Mekboy Junkas. (although, a gun that can cause the bearer to vanish off the table isn't great on a vehicle that costs 165-200+ points)

You can take Junka's as dedicated transports for both Loota squads and the Big Mek, adding another 5 Shokk Attack guns (so 10 but I wasn't far off!)

Thanks for the responses guys. I am still not sure if this is something I want to go after or not. I have several off-the-wall ideas (Exodites and Chaos IG using Beastmen) and I'm just trying to pick the one that would be the most fun. I already have a huge Ork army that is ready to be painted so I thought this might be the best of the three.

Loota squads may have a looted wagon for their dedicated so the total is at 7.
