just wondering since dark angels don't have the redeemer varient in their codex does this mean it would be disallowed in tournaments and if your opponnent asked if it was ok what would you say?
dark angels FAQ recently updated the cyclone and tyhoon ML's as in the space marine codex would this also be acceptable?
thank you for comments in advance

If it is not in the codex or the FAQ you may not use it in tournament play unless the TO says otherwise. Now as for a friendly game, I have no problems with it personally, but you should always make sure in advance.

No, the DA don't have the redeemer variant available to them. In friendly games, if your cool with it you can use it but in a tournament then absolutely not unless the TO has specifically said you can.

as the others have said, for tournaments, you're limited to what's in your codex unless the TO says otherwise (My witch hunters, for example, are always stuck with only the standard land raider if i were to take one)
But as for a friendly game, i personally wouldn't really care if you wanted one that badly

thanks for the replies kinda sucks since im doing ravenwing and crusader is just MORE twin linked bolters and i get anti-tank from melta/multi-melta making the normal land raider little use however redeemer seemed like the best option ah well back to the drawing board xD

Yes, but the Crusader is a vicious anti-infantry assault vehicle with an assault cannon and multi-melta. The real question you should be asking is :what am I using the Land Raider for? If you are banking on the Land Raider for cracking tanks, take some Predators. If it's a ferry for your assault team, then take the Crusader.

oh its for carrying dark angels vets and azrael however i thought a redeemer would be the best choice as the current army i have struggles with cover. that being said it could be better to take a crusader for the TL AC and the bolters maybe it would just do enough to neatly make up the the loss of the flamers
i am currently comming up with a space marine bike list however which means i might be able to use a redeemer since my bikers have dark angels bits (just the wing handlebar cover) but are currently un-painted so could say its a angels sucessor(from any angels or anything to do with wings) chapter or something making the guy in a robe a libby

So again, I don't see the issue. The Crusader can take care of the assault troops that is should be carrying and the Dark Angels can use bikes as troops. Our librarians may be limited in their powers, but the psychic hoods work table-wide.

im a little confused myself it was just that the redeemer did two roles as doing anti- cover which the bikes and meltas lack while also being a troop transport for the vets to take on anythign that gets thebikes in cc or elite enemies such as assault marines

Longtime Dakkanaut

Issue or not, the fact is it isn't in the original Codex. TO or opponent permission required.
That being said, only a TFG would disallow it.
Have fun
Ps - Take Vanilla Marines - all the bonuses(with IC's ) - like twin linked Meltas, and none of the old Codex drawbacks, IMO.
