Does anyone have any info on the missing relics of the salamanders which vulkan is currently searching for?

Would be interesting if for the next edition of the SM codex he has more options/wargear

It would be interesting though he would become ridiculous rules-wise so go figure.

No-one knows what the relics are for certain all we know are the names the Engine of Woes, the Obsidian Chariot, the Unbound Flame and the Song of Entropy. They could be anything.

EDIT: There's also the sigil in the second Salamander novel but I don't think that counts as one of the relics, certainly it isn't one of the missing four.

The song of entropy? That does sound ominous at all... neither does the Engine of Woes... why can't people come up with sensible names? Just call it "Super tank" or something...

I imagine that calling it what it actually is, would be felt to be unimaginative and it also spoils the surprise for the future since we would already know what they are.

Fair point...
If i had to guess:
the Engine of Woes would either be a tank or a ship of some sort.
Song of Entropy... maybe some kind of... actually, no idea
Unbound Flame might be either a flamer or a sword or maybe a really really good thunderhawk...
Obsidion chariot possibly a rhino or a bike of some sort.

Engine of Woes certainly sounds like it could be a tank, or some kind of Titan perhaps.

Song of Entropy puts me in mind of some kind of sonic weapon, or maybe sucks all the heat out of its target, or super heats perhaps, some kind of super meltagun maybe.

The Unbound Flame would make a great name for some kind of ship or a sword or perhaps some kind of flamer weapon just as you say.

Obsidian Chariot doesn't seem to me to imply a large craft, so a bike, or speeder of some description maybe.

I'd be more interested if those items had some kick-ass back story to them. Like say those 4 items were some kind of wargear, each wielded by a battle brother at the Dropsite Massacre. When the trap was sprung and their entire legion dying to buy them enough time, these four spearheaded a breakout to save their Primarch (incapacitated, obviously) from death. One was an honor guard, another a mere Scout, but they all fought with courage and honor at their Legion's darkest hour. To honor their memory Vulkan got their wargear, hid it throughout the galaxy and made up a cryptic puzzle / legend about how these items are key to the destiny and identity of the Salamanders etc etc. And then when the treasure-hunting Salamanders of 10,000 years later find one of the items, they're realize its not about the power of gear . . true power is BROTHERHOOD AND HONOR~! or something like that harhar.

That's why Abnett should write that story and not me

The thing is, they're not all weapons. For example, one of the relics recovered was a manufactory ship. Vulkan just wields some of them because they can be wielded.

Wasn't another relic a really massive anti-ship laser?

That's right, there's the forgeship Chalice of Fire, whose vast manufactorums provide the Salamander's with their weapons of war, and the other is the Eye of Vulkan, a spacebound defence laser assembly that stands eternal vigil over the Salamander's fortress monastery.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

the Song of Entropy could be a weapon. possably a Conversion beamer type weapon that sucks energy from the target or causes massive decay ala 2nd law of Thermodynamics.

the Unbound Flame could be a sword. they already have a flamer relic(Gauntlet of the Forge)

the Engine of Woes is likely some sort of warmachine. Titanesk.

the Obsidion Chariot is probably a Tank or Space Ship.

I like the Idea of the Song of Entropy being some kind of super-melta, it fits with the style of the chapter and all.

Does anyone else think He'stan's story sounds like something from a JRPG? He's pretty much a child of destiny set out to find the 4 ancient relics/crystals of yore.

Also the last relic will actually be the power of love and friendship used to defeat the final boss (Abbadon) but then in true JRPG fashion the "real" final boss will show up who is a cosmic horror with no explanation for his appearance in the plot (C'tan)...No wonder they're called Necrons....
