just a quick quest where does the loyalties lie for a techmarine who's caght between the adeptus machinicus and hsi chapter such as a if a chapter relic has been found but lays within a secret vault of the adeptus or something to that effect?

what would the techmarine do? and who's oath would override the other?

To answewr your question, I suspect it would depend upon the Techmarine in question-a Space Wolf is probably a lot more likely to serve his chapter than, say aDark Angel might be (just to pick a chapter as an example). The situation would play a part as well I suspect-a Techmarine who had been away from the Chapter planet for a long time might be more inclined to default to serving the Mechanicus than one at 'home' (so to speak).

I think the other side would probably defend the Techmarine against his aggressors; even the Adeptus Mechanicus wouldn't want to stir up trouble with an Astartes chapter, and vice versa. Take the Blood Angels for instance; whilst the Mechanicus is irritated at their refusal to give them the plans for the Baal predator or Lucifer pattern engines, they aren't so stupid as to think they can try to use Techmarines as 'infiltraters' so to speak.

Yes, it would be interesting to see where the loyalties of chapters such as the Iron Hands and Praetors of Orpheus, or Guardsmen regiments like the Vostroyans would lie.

Iron Hands probably do share all their knowledge with Adeptus Mechanicus, as the two are very close. It comes down to a chapter-by-chapter basis I suppose.
