Hi ,

Yesterday we had a disagremment with friends about tank schoking with a deffrolla .Here is the question.

I tank shocked a squad of marines with my battlewagon equipped with deff rolla.Marines rolled for leadership and passed the test after that they decided to move away with his squad.I said that unit suffers d6 str 10 hit eventhough they passed Ld test and move away but he was disagree about it .

As far as I know the marines would still take the hit from the deff rolla. The only thing I know that ignores the D6 Str 10 hits are skimmers if they dodged it unless the ram causes two certain results I forget which but its in the FAQ. Even DoG successful attack still gets hit with 2D6.

On the Ork FAQ it talks about Deffrolla and from what I understand works just like you said ! The unit takes the D6 Str10 hits normally ! Oh well

When you tank shock the unit, the unit takes D6 S10 hits. Nothing the (non skimmer) unit does can stop those hits.
If the unit elects to make a DoG! then they take a FURTHER D6 S10 hits.

Or to put it another way; whether they pass the Leadership test or not, they have still been Tankshocked.

That is all the requirement the Deff Rolla needs to inflict its D6 str. 10 hits.

Taking the Leadership test is part of the Tank Shock process. So the unit has been Tank Shocked when taking the test (pass or fail).

Arguably the hits should be taken before the leadership too, tank shock and take hits as they scurry away then take a leadership to see if the squad rallys back together after the trauma...

either way no amount of bravery will stop the 10 ton roller steaming right over them

I thought of one more thing, Karakam.

If your friend decides to talk about whether the Tank Shock was "successful" or not, remember to tell him that the Deff Rolla doesn't require the Tank Shock to be successful, and that "successful" doesn't necessarily mean that the opponent needs to break.
A Tank Shock can also be considered "successful" if it clumps the enemy unit together in preparation for some flamers (ie not having them Fall Back).
