Title says it all, Dakka.

Which do you prefer, and why? I'm trying to figure out which I should build when (and if) the new model comes out.

The Voidraven is attractive due to its two s9 lance weapons, which would give me some much needed hefty anti-tank in my army, but at the same time I'm paying for that void mine, which I don't see myself ever using (I'd prefer to keep the Voidraven as far away from the bulk of the fight as possible, which needless to say precludes zipping over an enemy target to drop a mine).

The Razorwing comes with two dark lances, as well as some short-ranged anti-infantry weaponry that I more than likely wouldn't get much use out of, but it also comes with four monoscythe missiles, which could be nice against a horde army.

So what have you decided, Dakka?

Razorwing, first alpha strike a horde unit, then go and pop transports.

Voidraven. In todays armoured environment, you run the risk of dropping three razorwings with missile loadouts, and needing to pop the transports first. Void Lances do it better.

How about that void mine, though? It seems like it's a fairly stupid thing to have to pay a premium for. A S9 Lance Small Blast One-Shot that you have to move over an enemy to use? (And which the codex stresses counts as using a weapon, which I take to mean you can't turbo-boost and use it). Sounds to me like a worthless version of the void lances.

To be honest, I'm not even considering that.

I'm imagining scenrios whereby you need to crack open the chimeras/valkyries/rhinos/whatever to get at any infantry units. In which case, you can have either two dark lances on the razorwing, or two void lance on the voidraven. For the slight additional points cost, I think its actually just more effective.

I could see myself taking two voidravens and one razorwing with disentegrators and splinter cannons though.

Void raven. Hits harder, and more armor. And should it survive it can drop a mine while it contests. Or poop on some Vets that try to melta gun it. You may want to turbo boost it for a number of reasons. Might as well poop on something then.
