So my friend and I for educational reasons have to make 2 hindenburg models for a project. but we decided that we would like to be able to field them in a warhammer 40k fight. I was wondering for stats help on them. We even wanted to creat a game variant revolving around them if you have any ideas?

Some concepts I have so far is have it be 13 armor value on all sides, but it would have holo-fields so it wouldn't just pop like a balloon. I also thought that it would be cool if they had a communications relay wire running down to a unit below them that would allow to give commands such as IG units can.

Besides this I havn't thought to much, I'm not sure what weapons to mount them with either.

Also suggestions on a game variant with the hindenburgs would be cool

Orks have a mine layer that covers blims good.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

If it's a IG vehicle.

AV10 all around.

unit type: Skimmer, open topped.

Special rules:

Energy Shield: the blimp has a 4+ cover save.

Observation Platform: all Barrage weapons may reroll the scatter dice if the Blimp has LoS to the target.

Were losing Air pressure!!!: the Blimp doesn't roll on the normal Damage table. use the one below when attacking it.

6: Kaboom: the Blimp's gas catches fire. the Blimp is wrecked, all models within 2d6 take a Str4 hit, cover saves may not be taken.

3-5: Gas leak: the Blimps gas leakes out through a hole and the pilot is forced to land. the Blimp is immobilized.

1-2: It's just a surface rip: the shot only rips the outer skin. the blimp is uneffected.

Well, considering in 40k scale, the hindenburg would be 11ft long, I think the best you can do is Grey Templar's rules, maybe put a couple of heavy bolters or something on there, but something that small won't be able to really carry much in terms of weaponry.

Ootheca

It should have a troop capacity of 20 - the hindenburg was huuuuge.
Maybe a bit more weaponry too, like some sponsons (no flamers though!!!)

If its big enough, why not run an Apocalypse game, and make them the equivalent of the USS Macon or Akron? Have some Thunderbolts or Lightnings operate off of them, with enemy air operating out of a nearby fighter base.

"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."
